puffy eyelids with levothyroxine

I wake looking fine but when I take my Levo about two hours later my upper eyelids are puffy. Any suggestions? I really hate this. I recently had my Levo increased by my doctor and was hoping I would see a change but so far nothing. Should I take at night and how long after eating?

Did you mention your puffy eyes to your doctor?

Well if your doctor increased your levo dose and you were getting problems on previous dose of levothyroxine, it would be best to discuss your symptoms with the doctor.

You might be getting a reaction to fillers and you could try a different formulation of levothyroxine. Which make of levo are you taking?

Not sure the make. Think it is generic for Synthroid

OK, I only know about UK levothyroxines so you should check symptoms out with your doctor and suggest you try a different brand.

metzler,

If you look carefully at the tablets you might be able to make out markings - and colour and shape. Post these details and we might be able to identify them.

Would also help in general to know which country you are in. :-)

My puffy eyelids were actually a diagnostic symptom for my wonderful physician. It can be indicative of a hypothyroid state (regardless of what your TSH reads.). I've lost my excellent GP who put me on NP Thyroid (Natural Desiccated Thyroid Rx supplement) and the new GP told me Synthroid was a more precise medication...B.S.!! I took it for two years and I should NEVER have. I eventually suffered for it. I am out of the US now and have finally found an M.D. who will prescribe Natural Thyroid (WP Thyroid is also a great brand). Bottom line...I've dealt with hypothyroidism for 25 years and I never suffered taking any form of the natural desiccated thyroid as it readily converts to our own body. Synthetic Levothyroxine is NOT natural. The side effects can be quite pronounced, IMO.
