Hi guys only me, just wondering if any of you have had problems with a rash with taking iron supplements, i have been taking blueiron liquid now for 2 weeks and in the last 3 days i have developed a slight red rash on my chin and cheeks and above one of my eyebrows, i also itch on my belly and back, i hace racked mt brains trying to think if i have used anything different but i havent used anything different in soaps, lotions, makeup, etc.
I have read on the internet that iron can cause a rash. I have decided to discontinue to see if it goes. X

You could be allergic to blueberries or have an issue with biotin if you have never had rashes from other things with Xanthan Gum and Potassium Sorbate in them. As both Xanthan Gum and Potassium Sorbate are in a lot of products. I have read people on other forums complain that biotin causes them to breakout, get spots or cause them a rash.
I suggest you try another iron salt in tablet form e.g. iron bisglycinate (solgar gentle iron) with vitamin C, then take separate vitamin B12 and folate supplements without the other B vitamins in them. Many posters on here state you should introduce supplements one at a time so you can work out what is causing you problems.
Thankyou yes i did google the ingredients too but didnt think it could be from the blueberries, i did originally have solgars gentle iron back in July but didnt take them regular as they got stuck and could feel them, i still have them in the cabinet so i will see if the rash improves without anything for 2 weeks. I have gone through everything i can think off it just has to be that.xx thankyou for your help bluebug.x
I just read your post, did your rash go away after stopping the iron supplement. Same here, I have been taking 325mg twice a day the past 3 weeks. Although I feel more energy, I sadly have a red rash above my right eyebrow. I too, have stopped the iron opting for something natural. Please let me know. Thanks! Kaii
Hi there yes my rash did clear up, i had mine mostly around my nose area going out to my cheeks but it only went away when i swapped the iron to ferrous gluconate as gp said i was probalby allergic to ferrous fumerate but i am now going to be having intravenous iron infusions as i cannot absorb iron due to being celiac-it has not been rising for the past year so happy now they are taking it seriously-don't forget to test your irons every 6 weeks!!
I am still currently taking floravital with no side effects but sadly it is not strong enough so just be wary that you may not be getting a strong enough iron-something to think about.😕
