Flu and thyroid test

I wonder if anyone could help me. I was planning on having a thyroid blood test on Tuesday or Wednesday but yesterday I came down with the flu. I have read that having fever gives a lower Tsh and higher ft4 reading. Does anyone know for how long after the fever had gone? There's no use have tests if they're not accurate..

Clara9,

A virus is more likely to lower FT4 and elevate TSH. I'm afraid it can take 2-3 months for a virus to completely clear.

Oh, dear. Then I think I'll just have to go through with it.

Take a good quality vitamin c - preferably every 2 hrs whilst ill.

Can you lift your head off the pillow? If you can then it’s not the flu.

TSH is at its highest around 3am so hopefully you will have your blood test at 8am - the earliest at a hospital?

If you take thyroid medication - don’t the day of blood test.

Your free t3 and free t4 are a better guide - ideally free t4 at the top of the lab range and free t3 towards the top.
