Thyroid test results

Hello, can someone advise me of these results please?

I have been taking WP thyroid since August, starting on 1/4 grain with gradual incremental increases to 3/4 grain, administered by my endocrinologist. He has increased my medication to 1 grain to see if we can get further improvement to the symptoms, just under two weeks ago. I am due to switch to 1 grain of Armour due to the problems in sourcing WP thyroid currently.

See below for latest results which now show TSH and T3 our of normal range, this compares to the previous blood tests taken in November which were:

TSH 0.38miu/L, fT4 15.1pmol/L, fT3 5.7pmol/

I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and the genetic enzyme D102. I have also taken a course of Acciclovir for a recent reoccurrence of shingles, which is still ongoing! Perhaps this might have impacted the result?

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated, before I contact my endocrinologist to see what his thoughts are and possible adjustments of medication.

Pulse rate is normal and temp sits around 35 to 35.8 (low)!

Unfortunately being symptomatic with shingles has confused the possible symptoms of over medication which could be related to the shingles and not high FT3. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

LATEST RESULTS:

TSH 0.103

FREE THYROXINE 16.2

TOTAL THYROXINE(T4) 98.4

FREE T3 6.91

THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODY 389.0

THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES 253

Your antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's

Extremely common to have low vitamin levels with Hashimoto's

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12.

Always get actual results and ranges. Post results when you have them, members can advise

Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low vitamin levels

Low vitamin levels stop Thyroid hormone working

Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

But don't be surprised that GP or endo never mention gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's is very poorly understood

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Helllo ,

Many thanks for your reply.

I am on a strict gluten free diet for 3 yrs now. I have Sibo which I am treating with a low fodmap diet, regular courses of rifaxamin, but still hard to eradicate. I consult a functional medicine practioner, I also am addressing all co infections as well as as the MTHR pathway problems.

I take a host of vitamins to address my immune system. Despite all of this, I remain symptomatic.

If you have a defective gene, I believe you should be prescribed T3 only as you cannot convert T4.
