An interesting article on the predictive factor of thyroglobulin (not to be confused with thyroglubulin antibodies, TgAb) and distant metastasis in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer.

Great article and thank you for bringing Tg to the for front . I had TT for papillary cancer and my Tg is always checked . The Endo /Dr likes to see <1 results . However when on NDT it might rise by some patients since NDT has some Tg from the porcine .
That's useful to know about NDT. Thanks, mine is always around 6 but in my case apparently not a problem so long as it doesn't rise.
Jgekliss, this post is great timing for me, as I'm going through this very problem right now. I've had a TT for follicular cancer, and now 5 years later have a raised thyroglobulin.
But I'm also taking a pretty whopping dose of NDT right now. A pharmacologist friend has calculated my blood test shows about 1 2,000th of the thyroglobulin I am taking. Looks like there may be LOADS in NDT relative to the amount a thyroid produces, and the half life is decent, 60hours or something.
Do you have any more information about this? I would really appreciate any links. But not sure this is discussed in a straightforward way anywhere?

I know that many thyroid patients on NDT go off of NDT two weeks prior running labs and switch to synthetic T3 . NDT will give you a higher Tg results on your labs . Mine is usually <1 and now it went up a bit . I'm on a low dose NDT .
