OK I have now got to the head banging stage with NHS protocol on Thyroid function blood tests. My new GP has managed to get the lab to test T3 next bloods to be drawn 19th December. However I am also going to get a private screen done! Which of the companies have you all found to offer the best service i.e. reliability - accuracy etc.

Nothing to choose between Medichecks and Blue Horizon. The tests are the same, done by accredited labs, turnaround time the same. BH emails the results to you, Medichecks put them on your online account, send you an email to tell you they're there so you log in to see them.
Basic prices are the same except for a few pence, Medichecks can be a bit cheaper, they have offers on every Thursday (Thyroid Thursday) and if the one you want is on offer it can save you a bit of money.
Hi, welcome to the Head Banging Group Most members of this forum have found ultimately that they have had to take their health into their own hands in order to return to full health. Have you had your thyroid antibodies tested? Do you know if they are high? ie Hypothyroid plus high antibody or antibodies (there are two main ones) = Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I have quickly had a look at the headings of your previous posts and it seems you are struggling to get your dose correct.
This is why I am going to get a private test done. My new GP (third I have seen in the practise) has managed to get the NHS lab to test for T3 on next blood draw. I am conviced I have Hashis as my mother and maternal grandmother had. However on the Thyroid Bingo game the NHS seems to be playing at the moment they consider me to be hyper and want to reduce my levo dosage!
My oh my, they don't half just love to confuse us..... and they know we are already confused. You certainly do need to find out for definite if you have Hypothyroid or Hashimotos. To my mind, they are two totally different illnesses. Good luck
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results
Yes I intend to get the full screen done anti bodies plus all singing and dancing vits and mins. I am fortunate in that my lovely practise nurse is going to draw the extra tube. This time I have made sure my appointment is at a suitable time in the morning! I will post results when I get them around 20th/21st Dec.
