WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT HIGH

Hi all,

Just had a full blood count.

White blood cells high at 13.5.

Monocytes high at 1.1

Could this be linked to my hashimoto?

Yes it can be. It is typical for hashis sufferers to have a high white blood cell count, but there are so many reasons for a high count..infection, inflammation etc. Mine are always high.

Cheers for getting back, I believe it's inflammation as well as I don't have any other symptoms, maybe linked to gut health.

Could be - what has the doctor said?

They need to follow up very out of range white cell counts so don't be fobbed off.

Shrugged shoulders as said come back in 6 months, my levels where at 20 beginning of year and clear at 9 in July. Its very strange, they did find emphysema on both lungs in a ct scan.

And are you being treated for that?

If not make an appointment and take someone in with you. Tell them straight you are worried about it and what signs and symptoms you have.

I had a lung test and that was it as I don't really struggle with it, maybe the emphysema is causing the cells to elevate. No symtoms to follow other than the thyroid ones really.

Worth asking. Shrugging shoulders when it could indicate something serious or should be monitored is not on.
