Suppressed tsh with low ft4

Hi everyone I have a question I am trying to understand something. What causes s suppressed tsh with low ft4?

For years before my TT I had a suppressed tsh with ft4 of 11, just want to understand this fully as I am arguing with endo to get t3.

Not doing well in just levo!

Also did anyone on here experience tingling in face with vertigo and balance issues, I have this really bad since thyroidectomy?

Do you have a range for the FT4, please? Have you had your FT3 tested? It's advisable before even thinking about T3.

If your TSH has been suppressed for years, there's a possibility that it might never come back up again. Were you hyperthyroid? On thyroid hormone replacement? I don't think you're giving enough information for anybody to be able to answer your question. Some of this stuff is highly individual. :)

I was never diagnosed as either, but was treated with armour for a year by endo to see If it made a difference. My tsh never came up even with ft4 of 10 range 10-22.

Armour worked on alot of my symptoms but endo would not increase, which made me sicker.

I have been telling Dr's for years my thyroid not working, then thyroidectomy in Jan.

Now trying to get health back.

Curious about why tsh suppressed for years when ft4 so low!

Yes, it's possible that - as marsaday almost said - you have/had a problem with your pituitary or your hypothalamus. In which case that endo was right to try you on NDT. It's called Central Hypothyroidism. But, he should have increased according to your FT4/FT3 readings.

So, why did you have a TT? And, if you've had a TT, what treatment are you on, now? Do you have FT4/FT3 readings?

It can be a pituitary signalling fault. The brain doesn't read that the thyroid is low and so doesn't send more messages out. Often other brain signalling markers will be low. Do you know what FSH or LH are ?

I am aware of these but haven't had them checked? Should I?

Try see if you have any other signalling hormones in your blood results. If these are low then this may indicate an issue and you would speak to the GP for further info.
