Need a good doctor!

Hi, I'm new here :) I have been suffering with several symptoms which all indicate hypothyroid issues, and I'm getting more and more ill each week. Problem being my TSH is within the 'normal' range (3.17), so I'm being refused treatment. I was diagnosed with hashimotos as a child, so my antibodies are positive (221). Does anyone know of a doctor who treats the patient and not just the numbers on a screen? I paid to see a specialist privately and he was the most insincere and non diagnostic medical professional I have ever met! I live in Suffolk.

When and why did you stop medication? I presume you were given medication when first diagnosed.

Nope! I was 7 years old and they decided to wait and see what would happen. Eventually my goitre reduced in size, but has started to grow again and is very tender - even the private endo agreed that :(

A long time ago I paid to see an endocrinologist privately (in worcestershire), I was already on T4 meds but felt mega awful. He told me I had bi-polar & wanted to prescribe lithium. I walked out & ignored him. Total waste of money. Then I discovered I could only take T3 to get my full health back. What I'm trying to say is - I would recommend that you take your health journey on by yourself. You already know that you had Hashi's as a child, you have a goitre. I've been hypo now for 36 years & wouldn't put my health into the hands of any doctors/endos. It's like finding a needle in a haystack to find an excellent one. I would recommend you pay for a Blue Horizon or Medichecks thyroid blood test, and see where you stand now. It includes thyroid antibodies.

bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/t... tests.

You can then post the results on here to get help

Thank you - I will look into those. Meanwhile, my GP has referred me to ENT and prescribed anti motion sickness tablets to help with my constant foggy head - surprise surprise, the meds don't work! The private specialist says that my foggy head, extreme hair loss, lack of energy, joint pain, feeling cold, constipation and lack of ability to lose weight are all 'non-specific', and that getting more sleep will do the trick! I hate doctors right now! When did they stop using their training to treat people in favour of following naff statistics and a number on a screen? I might give them a paint by numbers book at Christmas!!!

Not sure they would get that right! Seriously though if it was t so serious it would be laughable!

If you can get things tested and lets see what we came suggest from them. It could be helpful if you get tested for Vit D, B12, folate and ferritin as well.

Not what you're looking for?
