Buying Cytomel Privately
SaraAli,
You will need a prescription to obtain Pfizer Cytomel in the UK and it will have to be imported from the USA. If you have a prescription you can take it to any pharmacy and they can obtain it via IDIS or other specialist wholesale importers.
I don't have a prescription for t3 as my GP refuses to treat me for my thyroid problems coz my TSH is within the range. Can I get a private prescription for it from who?
SaraAli,
You will need to see a private GP or endocrinologist to get a private prescription if they will agree to do so while TSH is within normal range.
TSH 3.35 indicates your thyroid is struggling and FT4 13.90 is low in range but FT3 4.11 is normal for someone not on thyroid replacement. Why do you want to take T3?
Clutter I want to take T3 because my reverse T3 is high and reverse T3 ratio is low that suggests that t3 is not getting to my cells and it is hypothyroidism at the cell level which is not treated by GP.
SaraAli,
That has been debunked. As you are not taking thyroid replacement rT3 may be raised due to a virus or illness. It will usually return to normal range when the illness resolves.
I have all the symptoms of Hypothyroid and have no viruses or other illness that suggests that. all the blood works seems with in normal ranges but GPs ranges are not realistic. But my bosy is not feeling well. I am feeling terrible day by day and also have high thyroglobulin antibodies.
SaraAli,
The ranges are broad but they are what they are, and hypothyroid symptoms are often confused with other symptoms. Have you had full blood count, ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate checked to rule out non-thyroidal illness?
You will be unable to get a NHS diagnosis if you start selfmedicating.
I have low ferritin 14, vit d was 44, b12 was border line 238 (I have done private tests to rule out b12 deficiency and found active b12 was 41. with high homocysteine and gastrin. I am self injecting b12 now but have seen no improvement to any of my sysmptoms. But I know of sure that there is problem with my thyroid as well.
SaraAli,
Ferritin 14 is very low. If it is below range you may have iron deficiency anaemia and should ask your GP to check full iron panel and full blood count.
Vitamin D 44 is insufficient. 100 is optimal. I would supplement 5,000iu D3 daily x 6-8 weeks and then reduce to 5,000iu alternate days and retest in April. VitD should be taken 4 hours away from thyroid replacement.
High homocysteine can indicate B6, B12 and folate deficiency. I recommend you go to healthunlocked.com/pasoc for advice.
If you are determined to self medicate thyroid replacement you would be better off starting with 50mcg Levothyroxine rather than going straight to T3. You may have difficulty tolerating either with such low ferritin.
