Getting tested privately

I'm new here!

As many of you will know it's very difficult getting tested in the UK for thyroid difficulties as nhs only do the usual tests. I am getting tested for antibodies and more today privately as this is what o have resorted to after being told I am borderline and sub clinical hypothyroid all the time!

I am hoping that by getting tested privately today I will finally get an answer, of course I don't want to get my hopes up but as I'm sure many of you know the amount of people that are probably in the same situation as me it can be very frustrating and difficult to have doctors constantly telling you, it's normal no further action, when slightly high or low results plague your mind and you just want to feel better.

I'm about to take the 2 hour drive to see a private doctor wish me luck!

Best of luck! :) Let us know how you get on. I'm sure whatever results you get, you'll learn something from them and can progress further on your thyroid journey.

The tests are going to be done quite late in the day then, so TSH won't be at it's highest. Best to bear that in mind. :)

If you are having blood tests they should be at the earliest possible, fasting - you can drink water - as TSH is highest then. If you tick off your clinical symptoms you can show them to the new doctor:-

For future reference check out thyroiduk.org/tuk/testing/p... you can do yourself at home with finger prick collection and I dare say cheaper than going private as you are. Less than £100 for TSH ft4 ft3 CRP b12 Ferritin Folate and antibodies plus vitamin d

Had the test done and a health check too, the doctor and staff were fantastic! Very informative and should have my results in less than a week! Thanks for your replies.
