...Are these guys.

dailymail.co.uk/news/articl...

They live in the town next to me, I was chatting to my endo about it this evening. I feel like staging a protest outside their mansion doors!! Do they have any idea what they're putting people through because of their greed??

"Loophole". It's awful and it's an absolute joke that the government haven't done anything about it

NHS England are well aware of the situation and those responsible. Only time will tell if anything is actually done about it

Hopefully Billy Kenbar at The Times may have some more revaluations

Meanwhile CMA is supposed to be investigating

Yes, and we must keep an eye on CMA. Case review this month to decide whether to carry on or drop the case. If the latter I'm sure Billy Kenber will be on it before they can say "case closed"

The avarice of the Patel brothers shows they are morally and ethically bankrupt. I am all for business making money but hey that is just obscene. The NHS are complicit for sitting there and watching it happen. I hope the CMA absolutely stuff the pair of them. I just wish Serious Fraud Office would investigate as they did circa 2006

Have you read this very detailed report written from point of view of stocks & shares investment.

Towards end of article

"The table clearly demonstrates that AMCo was a serial price gouger. We note that some of these drugs experienced significant price hikes between October 2015 and June 2016. This implies that under Concordia's management, they continued to increase drug prices. Combining this list with AMCo's top 10 drugs, we found that the volume weighted price increase since 2002 on drugs where AMCo has one or less competitors is 1220%. ........

.....Financial Impact of Bill 72

"On September 15, 2016, the Department of Health, along with NHS health secretary Jeremy Hunt, drafted a bill called the Health Service Medical Supplies (Costs) Bill to address geometric price increases on certain drugs. Specifically, the passing of the bill will grant the government absolute power to "reduce the price of a generic medicine, or to impose other controls on that company's unbranded medicine, even if the company is in the voluntary scheme, the PPRS 2014, for their branded medicines." This passing of this bill could revert AMCo's drugs currently priced in Category A back to Category C (essentially back to their branded prices)."

Thank you for the info slowDragon. I was aware of the Bill and like you are wondering why a) NHS England have included liothyronine in the Consultation b) Why haven't they acted upon this bill, not only for Concordia but Morningside Healthcare who I believe are now marketing their Liothyronine just below the price of Concordia. I did ask my MP these questions and she was unable to answer either. Words fail me.

Yes I raised the issue of price being charged by Morningside Healthcare at the NHS England consultation.

No satisfactory reply there either

We probably know more about what's going on than they do. Big case of right hand doesn't know what left is doing. This is a total shambles. Once a final statement is released regarding liothyronine's future on the NHS will depend on what further action, you, me and many others will take I guess. Plan B is already set to go just have to wait now. The press will have a field day, and if the CMA drop the case game set and match. I have heard figures banded around that this Consultation cost £21million. Well that clearly was money down the drain, wasted by self serving bureaucrats. That money could have been very well spent at the working end.

Money-makers care only about one thing : MAKING MONEY AT WHATEVER COST.

They are cocooned in their beautiful large homes and large gardens and they can now afford to pay for whatever illnesses they or their family have. The can even have doctors on stand-by but they cannot live forever.

Many of these people are insulated due to the vast fortunes and have no consciences.

The NHS should have put a stop to these exorbitant charges and allowed the lesser costly T3s to be prescribed.

It has been such a 'perfect' excuse for the BTA/RCoP to stop, mainly women, from recovering and being symptom-free by the addition or replacing levo with T3. This is shown by the contempt some doctors/endos have shown whilst consulting with their sick patients.

These people should be made to reimburse the NHS for 'monies' taken and I'm sure £625 million would welcomed by the NHS and allow us to get the thyroid hormones we need to be well.

Let's hope Karma does its job on these people.

Unfortunately, had the NHS done its job properly and gone shopping around, like most sensible people would do, when these prices started to rocket they would now not be £625million out of pocket... The NHS is not the victim here... WE ARE!!!

Hell yeah..count me in! We also need to do occupations/sit-ins imo..big pharma, BTA or EPRU as I call it - Endoprats R Us!

Letters n petitions are can help, but we really need is more collective direct action..real change almost always comes from below! And we need solidarity from peeps outside the thyroid community--*must reach out more* - bl 00dy difficult I know, when you're so used to being knocked back :(

Putting the above words into action is on my When I'm Well(*enough) To-Do List!!..Feel very free to PM me if you feel the same.

Solidarity my fellow thyroidies - the (red) butterfly will overcome!! 😀✊

Bump.

Big pharma and T0r ies (blue, red or yellow) - symbiotic conjoined twins.

All part of the controlled demolition of the NHS😦😢

When these fiends are voted out it will have to be rebuilt.

And it needs to be one where patients have real power, doctors should be afraid to casually neglect, gaslight and bully. Unfortunately it's always been structurally authoritarian..more Stalin-lite/1984 than democratic s0c i@list :(
