Can anyone tell me the safest way to move back to Levo from NDT, currently taking two grains and not feeling great and so much worries me about self-medicating. I knew where I was at more with Levo, whereas with NDT I haven't got a clue
Thanks

I don't take NDT so can't advise on it but if you haven't had your vitamin levels tested yet, I would do that. It seems that some people who felt very unwell are doing better since they checked vitamin levels and optimised them. Then if you decide to make the switch, hopefully you'll be tip top and Levothyroxine will have a better chance of working well.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I've had my vitamins checked and on all types for supplements now, levels are getting better, still don't feel better though. I'm not enjoying self-medicating and would rather change back. Hopefully someone can guide me, as decided now I want off NDT asap.
It's good you're getting supplements for vitamin levels. I only take levothyroxine and it took a while to feel better with supplements after many years of feeling unwell. I have to keep an eye on vitamin levels still. What you need to know is the equivalence of NDT to levothyroxine since you should be able to switch back no problem.
It takes about 3 days for T3 to clear your system I think so if you left a little gap of a few days and then started with levothyroxine equivalent to the dose you're on it I would have thought it would be alright. Or you could just start with a lowish dose of levothyroxine after stopping NDT and increase it in a week's time when the T3 that's in NDT has cleared your system.
I think the administrators will have a more definitive answer to your question so I hope they'll be along to answer your question soon.
Great, thank you so much, I thought it might be simpler than going onto NDT. One of the admins have just responded so hopefully get an definitive answer soon
