Hi everyone,

Somehow managing Hashimoto, with ups and downs .. Levothyroxine (75mg) is not doing much and I often have bad side effects like palpitations , chest pain, difficulty swallowing food, itchy skin.. all side effects that in prescription warn that Gp should be immediately seen. GP said she neger heard of side effects from Levothyroxine and that this meds are amazing .. for everyone ! ( Opposite from my pharmacist who gets worried and tells me to stop taking for a day and to see my doctor urgently) GP decided she will talk to endocrinologist and call me and let me know. I aksed to see endo as I haven't seen one for 4+ years , she refused and said better if she chats for me . Then as promised she called and she said that endo too never heard of these side effects . After she suggested that I might havi panic attacs or/ and depresion. I just complained that I did nit take my kids out for years on my own as I don't hve energy and I feel ftiqued that I can not leave bed.

Blood test shiwed I was hypo, but after chest pain upon taking levo I stoped meds for a week till had doctor appointment. She said to continue to take my dose 75 mg. and to use one brand cutting tablet in half to obtain 75 mg ..

Otherwise I haven't got weight issues , not gaining weight , but opposite , becoming too skinny when hormones imbalance kicks in. Adrenal fatique too.. I eay very healthy , but not sure how much I asorbing needed vitamines amd minerals.. On my last blood check B12 was double upper limit, altough my GO did not call me or raised and issue .. I was taking Solgar B12 one a day but unsyre why such an imbalance.

When I mentioned T3 she rolled eyes and said that is just fashion medicine as everyone wants it and that it is dangerous in her words : 'like prescribing cocaine to patients!?'

I am taking levo for last 5 years . ( after I had my first child )

Now I feel too much pressure in my chest and ears .. again I connect it with Levothyroxine.

I decided to self medicate . Can anyone please let me know how to obtain T3 from Greece? what name it has there ? Do I need prescription for that or I can just buy it there ? How much I need if I am on 75 mg Levothyroxine . How much i would need T3 or I have to combine with Levo. I have Hashimoto.

At the moment my friend is there and she is willing to buy and bring , but I need these info first .

Please anyone help. Thank you in advance .

Just ask for T3 and tap her neck as they apparently confuse it with tee tree oil! Or write down Liothyronine. It's made by. Company called UniPharma

Without a prescription, Greece isn't looking good at the moment, tapping one's neck or otherwise :(

Sorry you are not well but I am unsure T3 is the answer. I live in Greece and my T3 is available by prescription only so not sure your friend will be able to buy it.

If you are on a phone scroll down and down to RELATED POSTS - where there are 10 more posts about T3.

Do you have any recent blood test results with ranges you could share ?

Could you try another brand of T4 as you could be sensitive to some of the ingredients. Have a look.

Ferritin could do with a boost. Also test B12 - Folate - VitD.

Your results still look Hypo - the TSH needs to be around 1 & the FT4 higher.

For someone taking levothyroxine a TSH is not good. It should be 1 or lower.

I will close your post for replies re T3 and members will respond by Private Message if they have knowledge.

B12 was for some reason double than max .. D low, what shall I take to improve folate ?

Only Wochart could tolerate better .. ) they stopt that one supplying) All other a bad.. Mercury and Teva after some time of taking ( 25mg) I feel having heart attack and sickness..

50 mg from Actavis.. not drastic reaction, but not much difference too.

Why this medication is so desperately not helpful and Pharma seems to do all to make us feel worse stopping better ones ...

All other symptoms pop up and Gp gets very generous with steroids , Omeprazole .. to treat issues from low functioning thyroid ☹️

As you say, rather than give patients a thyroid hormone that makes them well, they will issue prescriptions for a clinical symptom(s) rather than a decent dose of what suits the patient.

If the above is your latest blood test results, you need an increase in levothyroxine to bring TSH down to 1 or lower. You cannot feel well with a TSH of nearly 6.
