Emerald68,

At a guess, I would say that you have some sort of malabsorption. Have you had a coeliac screen?

What is your GP doing about your vitamin and mineral deficiencies above?

Thankyou no I have not had coeliac screen and complete blood count showed MCV 78.5 (80 - 98) MCHC 376 (310 - 350) Haemoglobin 116 (115 - 150) iron 7.1 (6.0 - 26.0) transferrin 14 (10 - 30) taking 800iu vitamin D and 1 ferrous fumarate

Emerald68,

Deficient ferritin and MCV indicate iron deficiency anaemia. Iron 7.1 is very low. Usual treatment for iron deficiency anaemia is 3 x 210mg Ferrous Fumarate. You should take each tablet with 1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation. Iron should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.

Vitamin D is severely deficient and 800iu is totally insufficient to treat deficiency. Your GP should refer to local guidelines or the NICE CKS recommendations for treating vitamin D deficient adults cks.nice.org.uk/vitamin-d-d...

Alternatively you can buy vitamin D3 without prescription. My GP prescribed 40,000iu daily x 14 followed by 2,000iu daily x 8 weeks which raised vitD from <10 to 107. Vitamin D should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine and T3, If you buy on Amazon please use the affiliate link healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

You are severely B12 and folate deficient. Are you having B12 injections and folic acid?

Emerald68,

Please go to healthunlocked.com/pasoc who are the experts on B12 and folate deficiency first. I believe you will need B12 injections initiated before folic acid is taken and GP should investigate whether pernicious anaemia is causing deficiencies. If you have PA you will need lifelong B12 injections every 2-3 months.

low stomach acid, try taking enzymes with every meal and probiotics before bed nightly but you also need to supplement taking b12 under the tongue, iron with vitamin c, and d3 with k2 in it in high dosages for 2 mths and then retest....you have serious low levels that can cause serious problems and aches pains nerve problems etc.....
