Blood Results from GP incl Iron studies: FINALLY feeling healthier and happy but also buzzy, 'medicated' and slightly synthetic.

Hello My Lovelies,

I just received my Blood results from the GP's surgery. They were taken exactly a week after the bloods in the photo (which I paid for through Medichecks).

The NHS results read -

T3 - 3.2 (range 2.6 - 5.7)

Peroxidase - 4 (range 0-6)

Serum trans Ferrin - 3.40 (range 1.74 - 3.64)

Serum iron - 15.6 (range 9.0 - 30.4)

During that in-between bloods week as I was waiting for the first set of tests to come back from Medichecks, I had a few tabs of iron complex (incl Vit C) and some B12, though I stopped 48hrs before the NHS test. I didn't change anything else

Since the NHS test I have been taking Ferrous Fumerate, a Vitamin B12 complex and Vitamin D3

I am still taking 75mcg Levothryoxine and for a week now have added approx 6mcg Liothyronine (1/4 Tiromel tablet). I feel so much better it's amazing - especially as it's only been 7 days!

I'm going to add magnesium to aid Vit D3 and K2 as kindly suggested by someone on here.

My question is: after years of pain and braindead-ness, I now feel fizzy and a bit ping-y, as if I'm on a very low dose of a fun recreational drug, or something (I imagine!).

Yes It's not unpleasant - I feel great! I'm just aware I feel 'medicated' and am wondering if it's a sign of anything like too much B12 or iron. That said, I've been ill for so long this may just be near-normality for my thyroid!

Have I overdone anything? I know the feeling of overdosing on Levothyroxine and it doesn't feel like that.

I just wonder if I'm 'buzzing' and 'up' now, whether I'll crash later - or whether this is just my body balancing itself out on a week of Liothyronine after struggling for so long.

Does anyone have any thoughts/ experience of this?

It has only been a week on Tiromel, so I continue to need my afternoon sleep (I have ME/ CFS), and still begin to feel tired and achy (as though the Liothyronine is wearing off) by late afternoon. Yet even then I'm still slightly buzzy and have that tingly medicated feeling, despite feeling tired.

Should I change anything with regards to supplements, or continue as I have these past 7 days?

Thanks!

Abi.

PS: Just to give you an indication of how much difference T3 has made, on Friday 21st July I went to a wedding and was in and out of the bride's dressing room at the venue to sleep, because I couldn't stay awake and was in so much pain. I didn't dance because I could barely walk or stand. I struggled to string a sentence together during the meal due to brainfog

One week later, on Friday 28th July (just gone) I had been taking T3 for 4 days and danced on-and-off all weekend at a mini festival. From only 4 days on Tiromel! It's amazing. My husband and kids can't believe it.

I'm still not great at finishing sentences or finding words, but am much better than I was and generally more alert. All in all a positive experience so far!

If you had posted before the adding of T3 I would have said you were undermedicated and that T3 not necessary on those results as both low so both needed an increase which adding more T4 should have solved.

But back to your question, I think it would be the T3 giving you the buzzy feeling. Keep a close eye on your results as getting the right balance can be tricky.

Thank you for replying. I was beginning to feel a bit lonely, haha!

Strangely, I've been on Levothyroxine - at various doses for around fifteen years - and yet I've only taken T3 for a week and have never felt this good on just the Levothryoxine alone.

Wish I'd started on T3 over a decade ago!

Lots are perfectly good on Levo alone if on the correct dose, you may have been one of them given the right advice. I wish you every success though for the future.

Thank you 😊

As I said, I have been on various doses of T4 over the years and even accidentally over-medicated on it a few times (meaning I must have originally been on the correct dose for me at the time) yet I've have never felt this well without T3. Strange...

Funnily enough, the day I posted this was the final day I felt that buzzy feeling.

I think my body must already be used to the T3 now, it just took a little over a week for me to notice I'd reached that point!

Thanks for taking the time to reply :-)

Well often it takes a while to feel the benefits particularly if been ill for sometime. Patience is a virtue but not easy to act on when we are searching for wellness
