Hi everybody
Had total thyroidectomy in 2015.
My last blood test result for TSH is 3.6 miu/L [0.2 - 5.5].
Have not had ft3 or ft4 done.
So I'm in a range.
Can somebody tell me something from this? Does it indicate anything?
Thanks

The TSH of 3.6 points to you being quite hypothyroid. You need an increase in levothyroxine to bring your TSH to below 1 or suppressed. Doctors are poorly trained and think once TSH is anywhere in range their job is done. No it isn't as patient will not feel well. You need your dose increased.

Would you still recommend have the t3 and t4 tested?
I'm travelling to Slovakia and can have a full thyroid blood test done there. It is much cheaper than in U.K. I guess the testing is the same and maybe range is different
Sounds like a good plan to get T3 and T4 tested, more information the better and also get iron, ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D tested as well. People with thyroid conditions are often low in all these. Just make sure you get the full results including ranges because as you say, they may be different. Not sure if UK GP's will accept results from overseas but at least you will know what's what and GP can repeat tests if they really want to.
