newest blood test results

I was told by Dr. V……….the consultant that I had to reduce my meds to 50 mcg and have no t3 at all. I had my bloods taken again yesterday morning and this is the result of what he’s done. I put in my complaint about him 2 weeks ago and still haven’t heard back, so I’ve sent a reminder. I am going to send a copy of these results so the can see how inadequate he is. HELP….🤢🤢🤢🤢I feel dreadful and it’s all down to him.

Is this an NHS or private consultant?

Have you thought about the possibility of finding a new Endo?

You can email info@thyroiduk.org for a list of T3 friendly Endo's.

Clearly you need to get your T3 back and add in some more Levo.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hi there. He’s nhs. I was waiting fir all of these results so I could then contact Benenden which I subscribe to . I got such amazing advice and some great endocrinologists to contact, so that’s my next step. Thank you so much for your caring response xxxxx

What a complete ARSE!! 😡😡 What is he trying to do to you?? He has certainly proven your need for proper treatment!

Do you have any stock so that you can take matters into your own hands?

Rowing2 profile image
Rowing2 in reply toTiggerMe

Can’t remember if you saw his actual name before it was taken down . Arse is great but his name was so much more apt. Unfortunately I have no spare levo ,the gps hv always been so precious with them. I hv lio ( quite a lot). The problem is the gp ( not actually mine), but one of the partner was the one who reduced it to 50 mcg in the first place and told me to wean off lio. Then the arse endo ( well that’s what he called himself, but we really question his qualifications ), just confirmed that. The gp is the one that wrote the test in my notes. If you notice he just writes borderline on my notes, BUT when my tsh was the other way it was as if I killing myself taking liothyronine and the absolutely most dreadful thing I was doing.Honestly it’s just exhausting.

Oh forgot to say I think he was trying to teach me a lesson as how very dare I even think I knew anything about the thyroid and dare to take t3. He revelled in telling me I’d feel rubbish , wish I could tell you his name I so wanted to tell him he really was one when I left. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toRowing2

I do remember your tete a tete but sadly missed his name... I'd guess if it started with a V? Vapid...Vain... Vile? 😆

With these results you should be able to request an increase and new prescription ASAP whilst they sort out the other twonk! Honestly they do put us through it! At least my Endo caved in when I took matters back into my own hands! Still cost me a month in bed and at least 3 months to get back on track🙃

Educating NHS Endo's is seriously bad for your health 😕

Rowing2 profile image
Rowing2 in reply toTiggerMe

It’s so hard isn’t it, I’m super strong, but you just get to the point where you just feel like giving in.Xxxxx no his name actually should have started with a W and ends with er . Sorry if I’m in trouble again 🥴🤐

I went to see an Osteopath yesterday and she was so much more clued up on the thyroid and she'd trained 40 years ago! She remembered them spending a whole term on the endocrine system and remembered the importance of fT3 levels!!

Rowing2 profile image
Rowing2 in reply toTiggerMe

It’s honestly madness. I can’t wait for the reply from my complaint about him. Why do they think they can sit there knowing nothing and expect to be respected in any way. Hope the Osteopath was helpful xxxxx

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply toRowing2

I agree... shame you can't escalate your complaint somehow...

She was a revelation thanks.... neck all stacked wrongly and one sacroiliac joint not flexing.... It turns out that you have a histamine control/ responder thingy in your neck which might explain my over reaction to it... who knew? The SJ I thought was on my good side... explains why I've been walking like a duck 😅 even my Oura ring commented on my sudden improved sleep and questioned what I'd done.... result! 😁 Should have gone years ago 🙄

If it’s anything like when I put in a complaint,it will be a waste of time , ( just stopping t3 all at once and told go back to original dose of t4 ) no coming down gradually

I have often found that healthcare professionals who are not in the field of endocrinology, such as optometrists, massage therapists, certainly pharmacists, naturopaths, osteopaths etc. know a heck of a lot more about thyroid issues than endos seem to. Most endos know the normal intervals of blood tests and not much more than that.

It is so odd having a good conversation like you say with others but you hit a brick wall when talking to GP's and Endos 😕

Good one

Hello did the endonexplain why they were doing this? By chance did they say they wanted to check if you were actually hypothyroid ? I wondered if you would report this into The Thyroid Trust, there is a contact form. The reason is they are collating information on this type of deprescribing to show the harm it is causing. There seems to be a theme that we get too much levo as patients emerging from the BTA. I am sorry they have done this to you.

Just sending you big big hugs. Defo ditch him. He needs hanging tbh. No wonder you feel awful. You poor thing. As for a further decrease...... What?????? Sounds like he can't understand the test results.... or he should've gone to Specsavers!! Shocking. Please don't let him ruin your health.

What an appropriate name 🤣😂😜

Which brand is your 50mcg levothyroxine

Get new prescription for 25mg to add TODAY to increase to 75mcg daily

Retest in 6-8 weeks

Meanwhile Ferritin is 26 and deficient

you need FULL iron panel test for anaemia (which is direct result of being hypothyroid)

Also request B12, folate and Vitamin D tested or test yourself

As you have Hashimoto’s are you gluten free/dairy free

See my detailed replies

Shows deficient iron

Inadequate B12, folate and vitamin D

Presumably you are now taking daily B12 and daily vitamin B complex and daily vitamin D

What are you taking for low iron

Lots of members have had good results with Three Arrows iron supplement

cks.nice.org.uk/topics/anae...

Serum ferritin level is the biochemical test, which most reliably correlates with relative total body iron stores. In all people, a serum ferritin level of less than 30 micrograms/L confirms the diagnosis of iron deficiency.

Never supplement iron without doing full iron panel test for anaemia first and retest 3-4 times a year if self supplementing. It’s possible to have low ferritin but high iron

Test early morning, only water to drink between waking and test. Avoid high iron rich dinner night before test

Stop iron supplements 5-7 days before test

Medichecks iron panel test

medichecks.com/products/iro...

Look at increasing iron rich foods in diet

Eating iron rich foods like liver or liver pate once a week plus other red meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily orange juice or other vitamin C rich drink can help improve iron absorption

This is interesting because I have noticed that many patients with Hashimoto’s disease and hypothyroidism, start to feel worse when their ferritin drops below 80 and usually there is hair loss when it drops below 50.

We have received further information the lab about ferritin reference ranges. They confirm that they are sex dependent up to the age of 60, then beyond the age of 60 the reference range is the same for both sexes:

Males 16-60: 30-400 ug/L

Female's: 16-60: 30-150

Both >60: 30-650

The lower limit of 30 ug/L is in accordance with the updated NICE guidance and the upper limits are in accordance with guidance from the Association of Clinical Biochemists. ‘

If not already doing so, I suggest you split your T3 as 2 x 1/4 tablet

Take 1/4 tablet waking up and 1/4 tablet 8-10 hours later

After next test results 6-8 weeks on 75mcg levothyroxine you are likely to either need further increase in levothyroxine or addition of 3rd 1/4 tablet of T3

But we never increase both at same time

Do you take your levothyroxine waking or at bedtime?

First thing to do is get your hospital notes. Ring the hospital, ask for records, and then they will send you a form and ask for proof you are who you say you are. Records can take 30 days. It is important to do this first or stuff will go missing from your file. It can also be interesting what the endo writes to your GP.

When you get your notes, write to the endo and ask him to put in writing why he chose to follow the path he did. This can drop him in it later. He probably will ignore the letter but it is a red flag to the powers that be if he ignores you.

Then get your timeline, doses, health etc written down. Then ask for a meeting with someone high up in the hospital management to discuss your concerns about the endo and his fitness to practice. Hospital management dont like this bit, will probably defend him to you but mark his file and have a quiet chat with him. If anyone else has complained, his card is marked!

If all else fails, look at your house insurance to see if you have legal cover, and if so, ask a solicitor to write a letterbefore action.

I am so sorry this happened to you, and it will be a while before your body gets over this, but it will eventually. Sending a hug.
