The colour of vomit !

Sorry for the disgusting title . I had a fall last Friday in the garden . I landed butt down on a fairly soft plant , but must have twisted to the left to try and save myself .

Oh the pain , ribs and soft tissue around the left hand side , but not a bruise to be found . I saw the doc yesterday who discounted damage other than bruised ribs and gave me painkillers .

The thing is I was sick a couple of days after the accident after eating very little . The colour was surprising , a sort of Orange . I have again been sick this afternoon after my lunch and again the colour is a mustard orange . In my life I have vomited a lot of times and bile has been green or yellow . Does this sound normal , I am in a lot of pain and my OH reckons it's the painkillers .

Is this normal and sorry about the subject 😱 Pp

If you were vomiting blood you could expect it to be partially digested, and that would show up as maroon or black. The darker it is the longer it has been digested for. If blood is very digested it might look a bit like coffee grounds. Any of these circumstances would be a reason to go to A&E or see a doctor urgently.

So, although I can't guess why your vomit looks orange, I think it is unlikely that blood is involved. However if you can see blood in your poo that is maroon, black or contains something like coffee grounds coming out the other end, then that is cause for alarm as well.

I don't know whether this helps or not!

Yes it does humanbean thanks.

I just couldn't understand why something just consumed made its way out looking as if it was a curry yuk.

Please remember that I'm not medically trained, so if you are convinced that blood is coming from somewhere don't rely on anything I've said!

My dogs are sometimes sick early in the morning (stomachs empty) and their vomit is yellowy orange. Always think it's bile. I don't know if this is at all helpful?! 😂 If in doubt see Dr.

whilst bile is often green it can also be an orange-yellow colour

however, if you aren't just throwing up bile - and if you threw up just after a meal then you will be throwing up the last meal that you had which is going to have a much bigger impact on the colour.

my grandmother had an incident about 10 years ago when she was throwing up and it was pink. her carer was very concerned but it turned out the reason was that she had been stuffing herself with pink marshmallows :)

Thanks Gambit62 . I'd eaten pasta with a little sauce so I guess that may explain it . I'm hoping it won't happen again , you're never sure how much of your medication is being retained . No orange sweeties involved 😁
