I was taken to hospital last week due to a cyst bursting around my ovary. I was very ill and in a lot of pain. Since coming out of the hospital on Monday, I haven't been feeling very well. I don't have as much pain but it's still there. Im back to work as a care worker, tho I've been feeling really sick.
Last night when I tried to go to sleep I could hear my heart pounding real fast. At the same time I felt the need to vomit. I took my pulse and it was 148bpm. I started to get confused, I was alone at the time and I honestly thought I was going to die. Tho after half an hour or 40mins it stopped.
Today at work I noticed I had pain in my left side of my chest along with a fast heartbeat again. I've felt really sick today and unable to eat for 2 days. Now I'm lying in my sofa and my heart is racing again.
Has anyone experienced this? I don't know wether I should go to the doctors or not. I don't want to waste their time.....

Please ring the NHS 111 line (NHS Direct Wales continues to operate 0845 4647). For all the criticism they have received, they are far more likely to be able to help you right now than anyone here.
Don't ever think you shouldn't ring them - that is what they are there for.
Please do come back and let us know how you get on.
If you are literally on your own, is there anyone you could get to come and sit with you?
Thank you for your help. I'm staying with my parents tonight just incase. I think I will visit the doctor in the morning as I have a history of low potassium at 2.5.
I think I may be panicking myself by worrying. Thanks for taking the time to answer
I do urge to you to ring now. If they say you will be OK until the morning, they will probably be right. If not, your case will already be on the record.
If your heartbeat is over 100 you should check it out at the A&E. 148 is too high and no wonder you were frightened, especially being alone. It's bad enough if you have someone else with you.
Maybe you've gone back to work too soon as you had a cyst burst, so I think you should have a medical check up.
I would go to A&E.
When my heart used to spurt off when I was on levothyroxine, I found that sipping ice-cold water and ice pack round neck lowered beats. I also had had a thorough heart investigation and I would recommend you do that too, particularly as Christmas is due and hospitals will be very busy. You are obviously quite unwell as you are feeling sick too.
Please get a check up. PS it's best when your heart is fast as I usually found it would come down by the time I got there.
Once you get this taken care of, i would strongly suggest getting some saliva sex hormone testing done. You may just need some Progesterone or something, to balance out your hormones. They have bio identical hormones now, that are safer than the ones most doctors give out. I had Endometriosis and Cysts, ended up with a Hysterectomy and 1 ovary removed. I wish i had known, to look into a place, that specialized in bio identical hormone replacements!! No doctor told me about that, ever!! I so regret not being informed and losing part of myself, to those horrible doctors. You might want to have your Thyroid labs done and a test for autoimmune Thyroid too. They seem to all be tied together. Thyroid can cause heart racing too. I get it every night for years.
I hope you have seen the doctor? Have you taken your temperature? You may well have an infection following the cyst and your heart beating fast is part of it trying to deal with that, you could be bleeding internally too, that can make you tacky cardic. I know, I've been there with gynae issues like you, plus vomiting is a sign of infection. I hope the doctors have been helpful, but if not and you carry on feeling ill get back in touch with the ward who removed your cyst and talk to a nurse or doctor, often they will admit you back if they think there is a problem without the hell of A& E.
Niki and everybody, I had to call 111 in West Mids area (Solihull) wednesday evening for husband and high bp. It worked very well and efficiently. Gave info, told nurse will ring. She did soon, she listened said Dr would call, he did very soon after and said call and ambulance. I did, Paramedic arrived, nebulised husband with oxygen, salbuamol and ventilon and bp came down. Paramedic left 1 hour later.
Nikki, I too hope you seen someone by now. Whatever the cause you are going tachycardic and over 120 for a length of time is not good...getting up to 150 is dangerous! If you are watching this and it goes up again tonight , I also urge you to call 999. The paramedics will come without fuss and tell you whether you need to go in or not.
