Thyroid s new batch changed colour, doesn't seem to be working?

welsh_babe profile image
40 Replies

edited with result below- Just started my new bottle of thyroid s and it seems to be different, colour and texture - it doesnt seem to be the same and now I feel quite crap. Anyone else having the same issue? They seem to be a green grey colour not the orange. I have emailed to ask but not had a reply as yet

result - after chatting to others i realised that new batch is stronger so instead of my usual 3 grains which made me feel ill i am now on 2 grains and feel so much better.

supplier should have sent warningg that new batch was stronger which would have saved so much teouble and panic! i was obviously severely overdosing myself with the extra grain per day

What are your symptoms on the new batch? How many pills do you take per day?

I have just checked my latest order which I have not started yet, and they are exactly the same colour as the current ones.

PM me your supplier and I will reply with mine.

Would you mind sharing when you received this new batch? I ordered some when they first became available again, several months ago. I haven't started them yet.

I just received them end of December. The ones previous to that were fine. These new ones are greeny grey colour.

Sorry, I can't quite make out the batch #. That may help those trying to figure out if they have the same as you.

I have a bottle of Thyroid-S which looks like the one in your pic on the RHS with the green stripe down it.

I put some pills on a white surface in order to take a picture to show their colour. They are the sandy orange colour like the ones on the left of the picture you posted.

Batch : TA21037

prod : 08/05/21

exp: 08/05/24

The thing is, I have just started using them so I'm not sure yet if they are ok.

Do let me know how you get on with them. I Will update this thread when I get a reply

I started with just a quarter Thyroid-S as my plan was to switch from Armour which is so much more expensive. I definitely did feel a difference, ie. that Armour was better, but I don't know if it was because the Thyroid-S was faulty or Armour is just better anyway.

I've gone back to all Armour for the meantime until hopefully more evidence comes in about the Thyroid-S.

I really appreciate your starting this thread as it might have saved me a lot of hassle if this version of Thyroid-S is inferior. It's surprising because these guys have been producing Thyroid-S for a long time and the quality has been previously reliable. I'm sorry that you are not feeling well on it.

I have been on the orange thyroid s for over a year and felt ok but have never been on armour as I was on thiroyd before it was discontinue. I have felt great until now

I'm also on 21037 batch. All fine for me, but I don't have any known sensitivities. (And frankly there's nothing else to choose 😒, so I'm really grateful Thyroid-S is back.)

What colour are yours? Greeny grey? Did u change from some thing else when u started them? As I was on the orange brown thyroid s then these greeny grey ones came and the same dose makes me shakely and in pain. So wonder if they are stronger or weaker than previous batch?

I just started on a new bottle of Thyroid-S, and to me the pills look brighter than before...I have noticed feeling slightly more tired in the past few days, but put that down to the colder weather. The batch number is different, though: TA19047, mfg 27/06/2019, exp 27/06/2022. I got it cheaper as it will expire in a few months. Now, I am not sure I want to order newer batches...

Maybe try slightly upping or lowering your dose. That's what i did when I first started as I changed over from thiroyd.

Worried as these gave me the shakes and I was in pain all over my body which is not normal

Oh no, this is worrying! I have just posted a question about Thyroid S as I have recently started a new bottle and I am feeling all burny itchy, and quite allergic and wondered if the manufacturer has changed the ingredients. This batch is from a previous order back in July 2021. I have recently ordered another 500 which is currently in shipment. I hope Thyroid S is not dodgy now as there aren't many alternatives for non prescription NDT that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and is actually available. I was doing so well on it after so long trying to find the right treatment.

I take Thyroid S and my batch no. is TA21060, expiry 31/08/24. I would say the colour is brown, the same colour mine have always been for the last two or three years. I have no problems with them. <edited by Admin>

in reply todottyb09

Mine are browny colour and not the same batch number as yours. It's hard to pin point issue causes. I am having a reaction to something but can't tell what.

<edited by Admin> I also wonder if the storage conditions are always ideal? On the other hand, the fact that Thyroid-S is delivered in dark glass bottles is said to protect it better from light and moisture...I don´t think there is any cause for concern as all brands - NDT and others - are subject to occasional dodgy batches. It has happened to Tiromel (T3) as well as all US brands of NDT, and various brands of T4 at some time. I don´t think there is any reason to worry until a large number of people have reported problems with various batches over time.

in reply to

Thanks PurpleCat71. I am having some kind of immune response (burny itching mainly around my head but armpits, glands as well) to something, and it seems strange it is happening around the time I opened this new batch. It could be something else, and I really hope it's not the thyroid S. I have recently ordered a new batch and will try that one if this discomfort does not stop to see it's different. Whatever it is, it's making me feel pretty crap.

in reply to

Let´s hope the new batch works! Please report here when you´ve tried it.

in reply to

Will do. Probably will take several months as shipment tends to take that long with this supplier.

in reply to

Hiya. You asked to let you know how the new batch of Thyroid S is working. Not convinced. Feel bloated and itchy. Not had this before. My GP says I have to wait 3 months before I can retest. I had previously ordered another batch recently before starting these, as I tend to reorder as I'm starting a new bottle so I don't run out if there's shipping delays. I am desperate to try that batch out before having to try something else, but other NDT's either need a prescription or cost the earth. Thyroid S is expensive enough and I was previously happy with it. I hope it comes soon. Why can't things be consistent 😔, sorry having a downer on it all!!

I have read of people having bad reactions to facemasks and the smell is not great, Goodness knows what goes into them!

Janexxx😣😎❤

in reply toJaneChapple

Maybe my reactions are due to the face masks and not the new batch of Thyroid s. I have major burning itching all in my head and back of my ears, but also in my glands. The only problem is, the itching doesn't stop after taking them off. 🤔

I ran out of amour and had bought these online. I used them this week and did the same dose as I would on amour and feel worn out tired and muscle aches. ( I respond quickly). Grey/brownish color batch - TA21037 - my amour should arrive on Monday. I won't be buying them again.

Can u just ask how much your armour is? And can u pm me? As I think if its not too expensive I would like to try it out. Need something for my daughter as she's 17 weeks pregnant and with this thyroid s not working I am getting desperate now

in reply towelsh_babe

Armour is by far the most expensive brand of NDT. I am not in the UK so don´t know how much it costs there, but I would be surprised if it were much cheaper as I understand it´s very expensive in the US as well where it´s made? In some countries, it seems possible to get it covered by health insurance so I hope people in the UK who take Armour can tell you how it works there. But then you would need to find a doctor to prescribe it.

I have put a new post up, but am following this one. I am having similar reactions to Batch Ta21076. Very tired, itchy, dry mouth, the runs. I started on 1g and then put it up to 1.25g as I thought I was hypo. Felt very rough yesterday. I have contacted the company I bought it from and will let you know what the response it.

Hi there, I have finally 'settled in' to the Thyroid-S on 1.5grains, which is what I was on when I took Nature Throid. I don't think my body liked the change over and I started too low thinking I would need a smaller dose in the end. It's all a matter of trial and error with these things for me and the journey is never easy. I am feeling fine now and will blood test in a few weeks to check my levels. I am grateful for the advice and support from the lovely people on this forum.

I'm glad you had that result but the new batch didn't seem to work much for me. I've taken up to 10 pills in one day with only modest benefit at most.

I am now on the hunt for a different reliable NDT, Thai or non-Thai.
