Could I have hypothyroidism?

Hi, new here, I am 41 years old, had a total hysterectomy 2 years ago and am on oestrogen HRT. I suffer with a lot of symptoms of hypothyroidism, I have fatigue, chronic pain, chronic constipation, dry hair and skin and am dieting and unable to lose weight. I recently had BTs. My TSH was 0.86 and free T4 was 10.2. The doctor marked these as normal but on the thyroid UK website it looks as though I would be considered as being hypothyroid which would explain a lot. Does anybody have a similar experience of this ie, lowish TSH and lowish freeT4 but within the normal range. And does anybody know if my a GP will consider these results if I go back to them? Thank you

Low FT4 and low TSH is known as Central Hypothyroidism - but it's doubtful your doctor knows about it! To give more weight to your arguement, it would be a good idea to get your FT3 tested, as well.

ok thanks, I don't think they will do the free T3 on NHS but I have an appointment on Tuesday so I will ask, thank you x

You can but ask. But, suggest Central Hypo, anyway.

If you have another blood test get your doctor to test your ferritin, B12, Folate and Vitamin D levels.

Don't be surprised if you end up having to self medicate.

So do you think my levels are suggestive of this? I'm very new to thyroid stuff and dont know much about it. It just came up when I have tried finding answers for my symptoms. Thanks for your reply x

It's difficult to tell without the lab ranges.

The TSH is 0.86 and free T4 is 10.2

The lab ranges are the figure in brackets or at the top of the column or somewhere, telling us where you result lies in the normal range, something like TSH 0.86 (0.3-4.2)

Hi thanks for your reply. I did say in original post that they are both at the lower end of the normal range and the GP has marked them normal. That was the reason for my question really as it seems from what I'm reading that this could still point to a thyroid problem.
