Follow up Lab Results

So after taking thyroid meds for 3 months I went back and got my labs redone to see the development. Heres what they are:

Reverse T3 - 23 (range 8-25)

Free T3 - 3.7 (range 2.3 - 4.2)

Free T4 - 1.4 (range 0.8 - 1.8)

This is after gradually raising my NDT dosage and stopping at 2 grains per day for a month. Is this a good place to stay? When I last got my labs done 6 months ago, my FT3 was 2.6 and my FT4 was 0.9. I didnt have my RT3 done at the time.

A lot of people do well on two grains. Yes stay with that for a few weeks and see how you get on. I always go on how I feel and adjust meds accordingly. Labs don't look too bad T3 could be at the higher end of range but how do you feel?

Keep an eye on RT3 as if that is raising it may mean you are not converting at a cellular level.

Here's a good link.

How do you feel?

Honestly I'm not that great now, but there were points on 2 grains where I was feeling good (I've been sticking with 2 grains a day for about 5 weeks). I definitely think that I felt my best earlier on with my NDT dosage. Maybe dropping down half a grain might help?

You could take less if you felt better. When it comes to fine tuning your dose you are your own expert. It has to go by how you feel.

The lab results look good even though RT3 is high. So most important thing is how do you feel. The easiest way to lower RT3 is to take T3 only, but if I wouldn't worry if you feel OK. I feel OK on 2.5 grains, as 2 is enough but some aches come back and 3 is a little too much.

Here is a good article.

Were you on Levo before you took NDT? If so have you any results from then? It's only when you are on Levo only that you can see how well you are converting.

I am also taking NDT and I worked up to 3 grains but when the Endo saw me, and bloods not bad, he suggested I dropped down to 1.75 grains and he was not only right but I felt great! But we are all individuals so the correct dose is what works best for you.

Nope I never took Levo I just went straight to NDT. I'm seeing a lot of articles about RT3 suggesting that if its high to drop down on your NDT dose and add straight T3. I don't know if I wanna jump on T3 immediately so for now I might just drop my NDT dosage from 2 grains to 1.5 and see if that helps. Do you think this is a good approach?

I don't know how to deal with RT3 other than add T3 but no experience and wouldn't want to hazard a guess.

Not what you're looking for?
