Iv suffered with overactive thyroid. Had radioactive treatment and now it's low i supplement with levothyroxine.

Iv been lethargic and fuzzy. Today...Iv got burning patches on feet and lower legs.

I used to be so sensitive to thyroid symptoms. Had em all. But more recent years Iv been steady.

Any ideas?

Burning feet syndrome is one of the signs/symptoms of Hypothyroidism. I've had it in the past, and more recently when I reduced my Levo. I was tweaking doses as I take Levo plus self sourced T3. Big mistake to reduce my Levo as it brought back a lot of symptoms and burning feet was one of them. It always affected me at night in bed, really uncomfortable! When I increased my Levo again and have become more stable on my current doses, I no longer suffer with it.

Do you have any recent thyroid test results to share? Let's see where your levels lie, you may be under medicated. Include the reference ranges with your results.

Oh my goodness thank you for reply. No Iv not had them checked since Christmas time! In the past I find GPs tell you satisfactory when I vividly remember the consultant telling me that I was at lower end of scale and if sensitive to symptoms can make all the difference. My GP couldn't give a monkeys! I was misdiagnosed for 2 years until a large goitre appeared!!! So Iv not much faith at all. Il up dosage myself slightly and see if helps. Again , consultant told me that I can do this each time as really when I'm around that 'satisfactory' zone my doctor won't increase!!!

Kimple, if you are in the UK then you are legally entitled to your test results. Just ask your surgery for a print out and make sure the reference ranges are included. As your last ones were a few months ago, they may not be willing to give them to you, I can't remember what the official time limit is (although you can pay to get a copy of all your medical records).

Have you had your B12 tested?

Kimple123, Low/deficient vitamin B12 came to mind, having radiation or chemo can deplete our vitamin B12 blood levels.

Do you take magnesium? I've found it helps with burning sensations in my feet - i used to get them when I woke up in the mornings and now I take magnesium before bed and that seems to have made a big difference. Stopped cramps in my calves being so bad as well :)
