TPO remains elevated

Hi, I posted a couple of months ago as I was feeling dreadful, TSH was 4.6 and TPO was 425 and I was taking 100mcg levothyroxine. Dr increased levo to 125mcg and I have just been retested, results are TSH 0.04, T4 22.4 and TPO 481. I am confused as thought TPO would go down once TSH and T4 ok?

TPO doesn't go down with TSH. There are other things such as dietary changes (gluten free, soy free, Autoimmune Protocol) that can help reducing antibodies. Supplementing selenium helps some people.

But unfortunately Levothyroxine itself has no effect on antibodies. (Some say that suppressed TSH could help reduce antibodies as thyroid activity stops, but in assuming your TSH isn't suppressed?)

My TSH is now 0.04. I'm also still very lethargic which is disappointing!

Forgother to add I started taking 200mcg selenium about a month ago, and am on vitamin D tablets as my levels were 28 2 months ago.

How much VitD are you taking ? Needs to be at least 5000 IU's with the accompanying co-factors - magnesium and VitK2 MK7.

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos at 59 some 12 years ago - went gluten free over 3 years ago - and still have Thyroid anti-bodies around 300. Great reduction from where they were initially. I think it is the hidden gluten in supplements or maybe I have an intolerance to dairy.

These things take time :-)

Cannot see results for folate - B12 and Ferritin ....

It could take a while to see changes in antibodies, and there's no guaranteed thing that works. Unfortunately I can't give much advice here since I've been struggling to try everything and anything to reduce my antibodies and all that's happened is they've increased.

You still have more options to try. First the advice the other members are giving regarding vitamins is solid advice. Levels should be optimal not just "ok". And secondly many people report that gluten free diets help. If you're willing to make a dietary change it would be the first thing I'd recommend changing.

Gluten free didn't do the trick for me in terms of antibodies, but for my wellbeing and overall health it's completely changed my life.

But, it isn't the TSH that makes you feel lethargic, it's low FT3. And FT3 can still be too low, even if the TSH is suppressed. So, you really need that tested, to see where you are.

Am taking 3000IU a day. How much magnesium and vit k is recommended? Foliate and b12 were ok I believe. Ferretin also ok.

200 to 350 mg magnesium. 100 µg vit K2-MK7.

OK is just an opinion. You need to have the actual numbers, or you could be suffering needlessly.
