Candida Supplements?
A friend of mine had had Candida for a long time, didnt say. ln the end she went to a chiro-practor l know who does treat many conditions and he got her better. lt was a hard slog and very strict diet + supplements for about 2 months. She was so desperate she managed to stick to it, but still has to be careful what she eats. The Chiro is near Bournemouth

She has cleared her candida, I think.
Dear Bonnitac,
I got rid of candida four years ago by taking Ecobalance by Bionutri plus a low carb diet.
I now take Symprove probiotic every morning.
I can eat starch now, though I prefer to keep slim by high protein eating. My candida has never come back.
Best wishes,

I did a 3 month protocol using Dr Cobi Slater's guidance "The Ultimate Candida Guide and Cookbook" symptom scoring, well-structured protocol, include/avoid lists and good recipes...which has for me now morphed into The Paleo Diet with guidance from my nutritionist and I have protein breakfasts all the time. My energy levels are a lot better and have lost weight!
You need to say goodbye to any bread for now and add in carbos later... if you go Paleo (no grain) then almond breads are an option.
Its important to remove the 'hidden' sugars, if you are hashimotos and gone gluten free then GF breads & other GF products, contain a lot of sugar. The first week was hard for me, as there is die back and I had "crash helmet headaches" ...the Candida fights back and produces chemicals that can be noxious (over 70 chemicals produced as Candida dies off) and also instructs the brain to eat lots of lovely sugar and starch PERSIST it gets easier!
Equip yourself with a good anti-fungal elements such as oregano oil and garlic oil, yeast competitor Saccharomyces boulardii, elete electrolytes, spring water, quality pre/pro-biotics as well support for gut motility : magnesium citrate, psyllium husks, vitamin C. You will need to support the liver with Milk Thistle Seed 'coffee' and Digestive bitters - Castor Oil Packs are also something I do.
I make my own condiments empirically e.g. mayonnaise, ketchup, hummus, pesto, paste and pate, nut butters etc. so I know whats in them as there are lots of hidden sugars. I use a tiny bit of Stevia as a sugar source. Get some coconut oil in the cupboard too as it is another anti-fungal and excellent cooking oil.
I have leaky gut so I take L-Glutamine and Zinc to repair the gut lining.
It all sounds really time consuming and fiddly, but actually it was easier than I thought...and yes the key is to prepare and that's when a freezer is brilliant for batch cooking!
As it is a restrictive diet it is good to chat to your GP and it might be prudent to have your liver/kidney function monitored during the diet.
Candida diet was a good move for me and started me on the Paleo path, knowing from time to time I will need to visit Auto-Immune Protocol diet, as i have Hashimotos.
Very instructive post. I think candida is more pervasive than acknowledged and possibly part of the obesity epidemic. You probably know more about that. I find that unfiltered apple cider vinegar also a counterpart for blocking some starch which feeds bacteria.
Thank you Heloise
'Tis said that "it all starts in the gut!"
I don't know if there are any studies correlating obesity and candidiasis. Candida albicans is a small part of the healthy microbiome in the aerobic yeast state, but when it begins to cause dysbiosis it is the pervasive anaerobic fungal form that wreaks the gut lining.
