Private blood tests

I need help support and advice. I haven't posted in a long time as I'm well and back to work. I'm posting because of my son who I suspect has thyriod issues but not showing up on tests. I want to get some private tests done but I'm finding it confusing and daunting. How do I go about it please any help would be greatly appreciated.

What tests do you want to get? Just thyroid? Thyroid and vitamins +iron?

Both Medichecks and Blue Horizon allow you to order tests online. Both give you the choice of finger prick tests or tests where you have to go to a hospital to have a venous sample taken.

I shall give you a link and I think a full blood test would be best. However, you can choose what is affordable for you.

If your doctor has some test results get a print-out from the surgery and the ones he hasn't done, you can get privately.

TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. It should be the earliest possible, fasting (he can drink water). These are usually pin-prick tests and if you need advice put up another post for some advice.

On Thursdays Medichecks has a special offer. This is a link to the other labs too.

Thank you. He's going through what I went through 4 years ago his gp won't take him seriously and keep telling him he's depressed the tests they have done is just the tsh and t4. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he has hasimotos. I'll look at the link and try and order tomorrow. Thank you

I think your instinct is best as we know our children better than GP and also, as you say, they only look at the TSH and T4 and take no notice of symptoms as they don't know them nowadays. It's how we used to be diagnosed and given a trial to see if our symptoms were relieved by NDT.

Hi Shaws, thank you so much for the link. I've ordered the finger prick test from medichecks. Will they just email the results to us or will we need to get Thyriod UK help to get the results ?

Results are sent to you by email I believe.
