They listened to me !!!!

Well expected a fight in my 1st appointment today after the positive blood test with blue horizon but after leaving a very peed off LADY doctor trying hard to look like she wasn't after my demands to be referred to an Endo, immediate medication and inference that she was completely unjust that it was 'stress' and 'all in my head' on the last visit, I have a prescription for Thyroxine and a referal letter to the endo! She may think now I'm a moody cow but hey, I'm Hypo, that's allowed right now!

Feeling triumphant today, there's hope for everyone! Now bring on the medals battle... Hypo, I'm ready for the fight !!!

Dexterpuppy,

The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 1.0 or lower with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

For maximum absorption Levothyroxine should be taken with water 1 hour before, or 2 hours after, food and drink, 2 hours away from other medication and supplements, and 4 hours away from calcium, iron, vitamin D supplements, magnesium and oestrogen.

It takes 7-10 days for Levothyroxine to be absorbed before it starts working and it will take up to six weeks to feel the full impact of the dose. Symptoms may lag behind good biochemistry by several months.

You should have a follow up thyroid test 6-8 weeks after starting Levothyroxine. Arrange an early morning and fasting (water only) blood draw when TSH is highest, and take Levothyroxine after your blood draw.

Hi sorry to come on the back of this

- what does lagging behind good bio chemistry for a few months actually mean?

Hi Jeppy good biochemistry just means that the blood tests may show good results and that 'treatment seems to be working' but that you may not necessarily actually feel the improvement at that time,it can take a while for the full difference to be noticed and your symptoms go away, if it's going to work and make you feel improved you will not be too long after starting that an improvement should be felt. Chin up!

Thankyou and bless you, I've reached all time low this week.

It affects your spirit so much

Some would say much ado about nothing. But it's NOT as we know

It's worth noting though that some add 'second fear to it all' like me!

And this makes your brain so tired I'm sure the symptoms feel worse, there is a website called freedom from fear group, It gives the way to float through anxious times, which can only help and it does, but so difficult to do - my anx gets so high for sure
