13vc Yes, if you're stable then thyroid tests should be repeated annually.

If you have a change of dose then a retest 6-8 weeks later should be carried out.

You do need to be aware that thyroid patients increasingly have to DIY their health. You may have to ask for tests, they will probably only test TSH, which is pretty useless. Ask for Ferritin, folate, iron, Vit B12 and Vit D3 tests. and if you dare T4 and T3. If you can afford them life becomes much less stressful when you get private tests done via Blue Horizon or Medichecks. I can highly recommend both labs. You then at least know what is happening to your body and stand a better chance of knowing more than the medics.

Hi, have you been diagnosed ? If so are you under or overactive. Have you been started on levothyroxine. If so then would you get a copy of your blood results and start a new post with the results and reference ranges for advice. Hope this helps.

Thankyou for your help, I have been told I have Hypothyroidism , I have been taking 75mcg of Levothyroxine for 2 and a half years my doctor has never given me any results or told me to have further blood tests.

Kind Regards ,

Valerie

Hi Valerie, You should ask for a copy of your results and they cannot refuse as it is your right to have them. Every time you have bloods done just ask for a copy. When did you have bloods done last. After being diagnosed you should have the done every six weeks an a raise of 25mcg if needed until you feel well.. Your t4 should be at the top of the range as should the t3. Tsh should be around 1.

You also need other tests done. Vitd, ferritin, folate, B12. There are but I can't think of them at the moment. Hope all this helps.
