I am suffering with arthritis in my knees, my right one is really bad, some days I can hardly walk. With the muscle aches as well, I feel like 100 years old, I'm 58. Am I looking at years of pain ? Is this going to get worse ? Is there any hope for me 😢?

There's another forum - Arthritis Action where you might be able to post your question: healthunlocked.com/arthriti...

Is your knee affected by osteoarthritis are one of the inflammatory ones? Either way, it's not uncommon for them to cycle with the difficulties and pain rather than be continuous.

What advice does your GP have for you?

I have been referred to the hospital, Dr there said its arthritis, and I'm to young for knee replacement, so signed off on me 😤 GP useless, am at a loss where to go next. Really am losing the will to live lol.

There's a Pain Concern forum here on HU that might provide some useful suggestions: healthunlocked.com/painconcern

Arthritis Action promotes an Escape Pain programme that has proved useful for people with osteoarthritis: hin-southlondon.org/news/es...

Are you sure it's not low vitamin D? Very common for legs to be badly affected

I will give them a try, thanks

Do get tested for vit D before taking supplements. Too much is not a good idea, and too little isn't going to help. If you post the result here, people will be able to help. :)

tina2026 If your GP can't authorise a vitamin D test (some CCGs won't fund them anymore) then there are various places that offer them online. A popular one is City Assays (I've no connection with any testing facility).

Just had a full blood test including vitamin D which turned out to be low, because of aching muscles, tiredness, been put on a high dose of vitamin D by the Doctor for six weeks and then retest. Worth getting checked out as ITYFIALMCTT suggested. Best of luck.

Try eliminating the Nightshade family of veg from your diet for 3 weeks and see if the pain is any better then re-introduce small amounts of an individual food. It worked for me. Dont eat any of them any more.

I wish you the very best of luck with your knee consultant, mine refused me a new knee because I quote " the patient has far too many complex health issues to benefit from and recover after knee surgery"
