Shoulder pain / arthritis

Hi,

I’m new here. I’m looking for anyone else who has experienced pain / arthritis with hypothyroidism. How old were you when you first got it, and how do you look after yourself? I’ve been getting pain there for a few years, and it’s flared up again recently. Unfortunately unable to get a doc appt during lockdown.

Thanks x

I actually started having pain in my left shoulder recently and it is not going away. I tried going back to AIP diet and also tried some pain killers. So far nothing helped. I will make an appointment with physio once they reopen.

Hi Yenna,

Good idea with the AIP diet. Tried ibuprofen gel last night, but didn’t make any difference. Hope yours calms down soon x

Have you tried taking Turmeric?

My own shoulder is heaps more comfortable since I started taking some. I bought Maxsorb Turmeric 1000mg and take 2 daily.

Edit:

(Not sure whether I can mention the brand, but you could always pm me if you can’t find it and wanted to try some).

Hi Ellie-Louise,

Thank you for the suggestion. I bought some from Holland & Barrett today. Will give them a go 🤞

Hi just seen your post and wondering how you are getting on. I suffered with shoulder pain approx 25 years ago,(roughly the same time as being diagnosed with hypothyroidism) in my left shoulder, which got to the point of my not being able to lift my arm from my side. I regularly saw a chiropractor over roughly 5 years and she suggestedthat I saw a clinical kinesiologist and after a brief treatment regained full movement in my arm. I am now struggling with my right shoulder which is extremely painful and movement is restricted.

I recently Googled shoulder pain and hypothyroidism and discovered that there was a connection. So I guess I was wondering if you had any success with tumeric or if you had discovered anything else to help?

You asked about ages - the first bout I would be roughly 28, I am now 53.

Ann
