Antibodies = Hashi's?

Have just read a post where Batchelor23 stated their antibodies from a medichecks test were 385IU/mL and the comment was that there is no underlying autoimmune condition. My antibody levels were 21.74IU/mL TG (0.0-115) and 14.53IU/mL TPO (0.0-34). Is this autoimmune Hashi's or not? If not what levels constitute Hasimoto's?

Over the top of the range constitutes Hashi's.

Yours are within range, but that does not completely rule out Hashi's, because antibodies fluctuate. So, you would need to test two or three times.

But, even then, some people with Hashi's never develop over-range antibodies. They are diagnosed by ultra-sound scans. So, I'm afraid it's a case of not being able to prove a negative.

Grey goose

How does a scan verify Hashimoto's?

Thanks :)

I have antibodies in the 300 mark, went for ultra sound yesterday and no inflammation showed up.

It won't show up in the early stages, but when the gland is damaged, the damage will be typical of Hashi's.

Daz78 , it doesn't matter how many antibodies you have. They can't actually see them buzzing around. And, you might have inflammation or you might not. It's how long you've had the antibodies, and therefore how much damage has been done that will show on the scan.

Yes no damage done

Yet. Get your TSH down to zero, go gluten-free, and take selenium. :)

TSH down to zero?

Yup. The less gland activity there is, the less antibody activity.
