  • Welcome to the forum, Starstern.

Can you post your thyroid results with the ranges (the figures in brackets after the results)?

If Hashimoto's has caused low thyroid levels you will need Levothyroxine. Herbs and minerals are not a substitute for thyroid replacement hormone.

If you have Hashimoto's with normal thyroid levels (euthyroid Hashimoto's) supplementing 200mcg selenium is good thyroid support and adopting 100% gluten-free diet may slow progression to hypothyroidism and reduce Hashi flares and symptoms and, eventually, antibodies.

  • if we already have adequate amount selenium in our diets ,isn't overdosin by adding more ? therefore they all say not to consume more then 4 brazil nuts per day "

  • The problem is in those first two letters: if.

Traditionally it was probably the case that most of us got enough selenium as most of us consumed north American wheat which has a decent selenium level. Much of our wheat these days is British, or European, and usually has far lower levels. Plus so many of us consume less wheat than in the 1950s and 1960s - with wheat-free/gluten-free being especially common in people who have other health issues.

The only way to know is to be tested.
