I use 2 Circadins, 2 Seroquels 50mg (which makes me feel like cement) 2mg Rivotril (benzodiazepine) and 12,5mg Stilnox MR (think it is Ambien outside of South Africa). I'm so tired I can't walk. The pain is surreal. Anti-depressants don't work. Natural remedies don't work. I have been using sleeping tablets for almost 30 years every night and now NOTHING works. Can anyone advise me out of this mess please?

Hi Moytjie,
You will be better advised to ask for help on one of HealthUnlocked pain forums. Click on My Communities and type Pain into the search function and you will be presented with a number of pain fora to choose from.
Moytjie,
Can't see any thyroid issues on profile or other posts and responses.
Is there a thyroid issue here?
Hello helvella sorry thought I was in another community. However I follow the thyroid community because my sister has thyroid issues. Cannot see straight because days and nights without sleep.
Some standard advice for people on this forum is that people should get their vitamin and mineral levels tested. Just being within the reference range is not sufficient. People need levels to be optimal. I have suffered severe insomnia for decades but it reduced in severity and frequency when I improved my nutrient levels.
The things that get mentioned on here are Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, folate, ferritin, and iron.
Another thing that is mentioned on here is high or low levels of cortisol. Since you can't sleep it suggests your levels may be very high at bedtime. It isn't possible or wise to guess though. Low and high cortisol levels have symptoms that overlap. The best test is a saliva test done 4 times in one day. It is far more informative than a single blood test.
Good luck.
I cannot sleep more than 1-2 hours without taking 1.5mg of Natrol melatonin. Have been on it 17 years with no side effects.
I also recommend Paul McKenna's Sleep Like a Log, or I Can Make You Sleep cds. Sometimes I listen 3 x a night but it always gets me to nod off.
I have also found Dr Stuart's Valerian tea helpful, and Avena Sativa Comp drops in water good.
Sleep hygiene is important ie no tv/music/chatting/pc an hour before bed.
Finally maybe get a 24 hour adrenal saliva test done. Your cortisol may be out of synch and be too high at night time.
best of luck as I know sleep issues make one feel dreadful.
