Hi, I want a private scan done, any advice where and how I do this? Plus an idea of cost would be good.

I searched on local media (mostly things like yellow pages online). Found one which was run by NHS radiographers using NHS facilities out of normal hours. (Totally above board, I believe.)

In the end, didn't go ahead.

That's really interesting, so would it have been at your nearby endo department?

misslissa,

Funnily enough - no. But where I lived had hospitals in two nearby towns - one had the endo department, the other was where this was performed. Both had radiographic facilities so, technically, it have could been done at either.

I wouldn't have thanked you for any interaction with the local endocrinology department. :-(

I used a company in leeds about 4 years ago. "this is my" or something like that. It cost £120 and I got the photos and a full report from the radiographer. I had a very atrophied (shrunken) thyroid and no nodules. They have other centres in the north, Hull, Manchester and Liverpool I think. Got an appointment very quickly.

I think Coventry is nearest for me, it's a good price. Thank you x

I have used "this is my" clinic in Leeds several years ago for hormone blood tests and a pregnancy ultrasound.

They were brilliant at short notice appointments and reasonably priced. Blood test results back the same day!

I phoned my local Nuffield Hospital towards the end of last year and they quoted about £200 but said I had to have a GP referral.

So more pricey than others. I rang my endo today and he said we will 'discuss' an ultrasound after my synacthen test. This is why I will end up paying for it, he'll find an excuse not to do it.

Real charmers aren't they and not particularly competent. Since June 2015 I've spent well over £6000 on scans and overpriced blood tests due to rubbish Endo and Endo surgeon who has outdated ideas. I'm due to see a functional medicine practitioner in a couple of weeks in a last ditch attempt. That wont be cheap and then I'll be broke!

Not what you're looking for?
