Hi,

I had my Ultra Sound on my Thyroid last week. The Radiologist advised he could see no issues with my thyroid.

So looking at my results and what he said does this mean my symptoms are not indicative of Thyroid issues?

It means that your thyroid results are in range but it's where in the range that is important as they need to be optimal. You should be aiming of getting your FT4 around 19/20 and hopefully the FT3 will also increase but at the moment you are undermedicated.

I have more bloods to be taken in a fortnight.

I was just wondering if i continue pursuing thyroid if the US was fine.

Your free t3 and free t4 are much lower than you'd expect with that TSH, so you might have secondary/central hypo if you have hypo symptoms and are not on any meds. But I'd be far more worried about the appalling folate and B12 - you need to be tested for pernicious anaemia right away.

If you are not currently medicated your thyroid results look ok and don’t suggest hypothyroidism. However your folate is extremely low and is likely to be making you feel unwell. Your active B12 result is only just over the level (50) where additional testing is recommended for Pernicious Anaemia. I would go over to the PA forum to get further advice before supplementing.

If your thyroid looked ok under a scan it’s very unlikely you have hashis as this would show up. There is a possibility of central hypo so if it were me I would retest again in 6-8 weeks from this test date.

I noted that this test was done a month ago - the most pressing issue is your low folate and lowish b12 which was mentioned to you at the time. Are you aware that low vitamin levels can cause very severe symptoms many of them similar to hypothyroidism. If you have not already done so I would go over to the PA forum to get advice as you may have Pernicious Anaemia. This can cause permanent nerve damage if left untreated so please do not leave it.
