Low T3 and poor circulation.

Hello,

I have recently been diagnosed with Hashimoto's, I am on 25mg of levothyroxine and my latest blood results are as follows. If my Free T3 is low does it mean that I need to increase the dose I am on?

I have also developed poor circulation, with blood not coming to my toes and fingers, especially when exposed to cold weather. Is this a sign of vitamin deficiency? This coincides with me starting a SIBO diet, could this be the result of that? Has anyone experience anything like this?

TSH - 3.90 (0.35-4.5)

Free T4 - 14.8 (11-26)

Free T3 - 2.8 (3.1 - 6.8)

Thyroperoxidase Ab - 254.28 (0-50)

iodine serum - 70.4 (40-80)

serum zinc - 9.17 (11-24)

serum folate - 8.2 (3-0)

iron - 15 (10-30)

25 OH Vit D - 69.06 (50-200)

Vit B12 - 705 (197-771)

Comments very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Patrabu25,

You are under medicated. The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 1.0 or lower with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org.uk if you would like a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP.

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

Serum zinc is deficient. Zinc is available without prescription or your GP can prescribe it.

Your other results look fine to me.
