Thyroid Food: Is Porridge ok to eat with... - Thyroid UK
Thyroid Food
It is fine, unless you want to follow a special diet like the autoimmune paleo thing or low-carb or grain-free. There is some question as to whether or not oats should be included in a gluten-free diet because some people react to them even if they are the gf variety. But all of this is specific to various restrictive diets. Just to eat as part of a varied diet? Oats are fine.
There are some foods that can interfere w the way your thyroid works (they are called goitrogens) but generally again they're fine to include in a varied diet and largely are 'deactivated' by cooking. The research I've read suggests that you'd have to eat a very large amount of raw cabbage or similar for it to matter. Here is more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goitr...
What are you hoping to achieve w a food plan? Is it to lose weight, to reduce inflammation, to see if cutting something out (eg gluten) improves your antibodies, to boost your energy, or - ? If you can say a bit more about what you want out of a diet it would help to know what direction to point you in.
You could always google hypothyroid diet and you'd see the vast variety of options available, but tbh I think that might be overwhelming and it can be hard to sort the wheat from the chaff. Just a bit more info would help.
3mins in microwave ,leave for 30 seconds add, greek type yoghurt, blueberries ,teaspoon of honey and job done.
I eat organic porridge 2/3 times every week especially in the winter. I have done for years.
i just have 5 dessertspoons of porridge with 1.1/4 cups of water in the microwave for 3 mins.
If you don't like it plain add blueberries or honey maybe.
I soak organic oats with a few pumpkin seeds in a little cold milk overnight in the fridge, then add raisins and more milk in the morning..a quick and east breakfast for me.
Gluten free, sure thing. Look up Leaky Gut syndrome as our autoimmune issues can be sorted when sorting the gut out. Try taking L-glutamin also with food. I feel much better with all this and whilst avoiding gluten and dairy...
Thank you so much your help is most appreciated.
Hi All,
Thank you so much for all your comments,
Just wanted to share something about milk we gave up milk 2 years ago because we read bad things about what was going inside the diary industry but mostly because my daughter had terrible skin rash and acne and we tried everything under the sun to fix it no docter no medicine nothing worked.
We then went natural and the natural-path asked if we drink milk, yes we love it, my daughter drinks chocolate milk, she told me throw the milk away and get on Almond milk as a sub, and filled us in with all the nasty's that goes into the milk that we consume and its affect it has on the body.
WE have been milk-less for 2 years now and in the 1 to 2nd month of stopping milk my daughters rash starting to disappear along with the acne is all gone, she has lovely glowing skin now. And i don't have asthma anymore when on the milk i was always weazing, coughing sometimes joking BLAH !
Anyhow so if this is what milk did to us, i wander what it does to others who consume it.
You can only do a test in your own household to see for a month if you having health issues.
I think the milk would be ok if it was on the farm, all organic from the cow to the cup drink, but its when they process it, and all the hormones and puss go inside eewwhhhh it puts me off. I seen this video that was shared to me and im going to share it with you and this was a big decision as to why i never drink milk again. sharing is caring.
Anyone else have issues with milk ?

Gluten free oats only and preferably organic
Hypothyroidism greatly affected by autoimmune response and diet very important to reduce further decline. Cut out dairy too.

Keep well 😊
Sorry I hadn't read your last post - YES dairy out !!!
Ask your GP for a 'Pylori' bacteria test for a 'leaky gut' . It often goes hand in hand with hypothyroidism and often goes unrecognised.
