A few months ago I posted a question about soya and other foods and got lots of interesting responses. Today PassionFruit-xxx posted about soya and greygoose made the important point that when it comes to food it’s not just about whether it affects absorption but also whether it affects intracellular uptake of thyroid hormones. I didn’t want to highjack PassionFruit-xxx thread so here’s a new thread with my question. Can anyone point me to any research on foods that are known to impact intracellular thyroid hormone uptake. For some of us reliant on T3 the issue of maximising intracellular uptake is really important. Hope that’s not too niche.

Food and Intracellular conversion of thyroid hormones
Tricky one this as without cellular level testing you can only really work on symptoms so a food diary might be the most useful way forward 🤷♀️
hello, there is a book called your body in balance by Dr Neal Bernard. It’s worth a read regarding food and the impact on your hormones 😁
Thanks Leeleemarksy86 he’s the vegan guy isn’t he. I eat mostly plant based because I like it . I’ll check that out.
hey, yes he is the vegan guy. The thing is there is so many reasons the hormones are out of balance what works for one might not work for another. Also if you check out Dr Barbara O’Neill and the use of castor oil on the thyroid. I done the plant based diet as best as I could first time round and got of meds but it came back again after 8 months. I eat just healthy now and have went down the castor oil route and I’ve went from overactive to underactive so I’m not sure if this is due to castor oil working and reducing nodules or what’s going on but I think they are taking me off the meds in 3 weeks time again. It’s all trail and error. Stress and the cortisol levels I think have massive part to play in thyroid issues. I’ve been going through this for 4 years now so I wish you all the best on your journey and I hope you find what works for you best ☺️.
