Carriebaby,

If there are several labs in Ayrshire the ranges could be different at each lab. You need the ranges for the lab where your results were analysed.

The ranges vary laboratory by laboratory.

For your general area, the following information seems to apply:

A2. Pathology laboratory services are provided from University Hospital Crosshouse. The labs provide services to the following hospitals:

· University Hospital Crosshouse

· University Hospital Ayr

· Ayrshire Central Hospital

· East Ayrshire Community Hospital

· Girvan Community Hospital

· Kirklandside Hospital

· Biggart Hospital

· Arran War Memorial Hospital

· Lady Margaret Millport

· BMI Carrick Glen

So contact the Crosshouse lab.

The lab might have the information online - many do.

Was yours done by Crosshouse lab?

Not sure what you put in your search but if you Google 'Crosshouse lab reference ranges ' the first link on my tablet is nhsresearchscotland.org.uk/... so click on that.

My tablet won't let me link to PDFs but click on the first link for biochemistry reference ranges PDF and scroll down to the 'T' section for Thyroxine Free (FT4) and Tri-iodothyronine, free (FT3)

The range for T3 is 3.5- 6.5

And T4 range is 9.0-24.0

So thinking I could perhaps ease my dose by 1/2 grain what do you think

With your FT3 at 5.2 then there's room for an increase in your NDT.
