Hi all can anyone tell me if I can buy NDT in Sweden or Denmark without a prescription?
NDT in Sweden??: Hi all can anyone tell me if I... - Thyroid UK
NDT in Sweden??
In Sweden T3 is prescription only, so I think it's highly unlikely that you would get NDT. Not sure about Denmark but I would say that would be the same.
Thank you
Hi I ordered NDT online 1000 tablets for £75. I live in France and can only get Levo here which made me ill. I could tell you the site but I don't think that I am allowed to on this site, sorry.
Thanks Hidden , I'm exploring my options at the moment, with NDT & T3. my OH has to travel to Sweden, through Denmark and so the reason for asking. Please private message the details though, just in case I decide to go down this route. 👍😊
You can also get T3 in France, and it's easier to get than in the UK, because it isn't so expensive. Ask your doctor for Cynomel. It's prescription only, I'm afraid.
If you want to tell someone where to get NDT, send them a PM.
Hi, no it's not possible to get it in Sweden. We swedes has to order online or ask friends when they go to Greece, Cyprus or Turkey, just as when living in England.
CosmosCat,
Are there no doctors prescribing either NDT or synthetic T3 (Liothyronin)?
Well, Rennixon asked about NDT or T3 WITHOUT prescription, so my answer relates to that. But having followed the Swedish Facebook group for thyroid issues (Sköldkörtelföreningen), it's apparent that it is just as difficult to get NDT or T3 in Sweden as in England.. GP:s and Endochrinologists in both countries seems unwilling to prescribe them.
If you live in Sweden you can write to Socialstyrelsen (or if it was Läkemedelsverket) and ask for a list of the doctors who has applied for the license and then try to get an appointment with one of them.
No, I don't live in Sweden, but it's always interesting to be able to compare the situation in different countries. And I don't exclude moving back some day. But, from what I have read, it's not easy being hypothyroid in Sweden...unless you do fine on T4 drugs only and a TSH in range, that is...
Are you saying that doctors in Sweden need to apply for a special authorisation in order to prescribe NDT? In Belgium, which is the system I know best, your prescription for NDT needs to be accompanied by a medical declaration stating that you cannot be adequately treated with the thyroid drugs available in Belgium (since synthetic combo drug Novothyral was taken off the market a few years ago, only T4 drugs are available in pharmacies). But any doctor could in theory prescribe NDT, as long as they also issue a medical declaration.
Did you ever find ndt in sweden
