I wonder if anyone can help. I am finally well using T3 and T4. Unfortunately my normal supply of T3 is unavailable. Does anyone know if I can buy it in Sweden ?
I am sorry but I don't know how to do a private message to ask this question. I am really anxious as no T3 means I will be ill again.
Thanks in advance.

I just did some research on why T3 is not generally prescribed in the US. in the past one study showed that it was useful and another that it was not with critics of the results each time. There is a new study going on now in the US with a new kind of testing. Thus there may be a different policy one day. I also read that it may be useful in people wihose DNA exhibits polymorphism. I could not find a good explanation of that.
Hidden There are a number of genes to which your DNA reference applies, but the one which currently exercises people's minds most, is DIO2, a polymorphism of which may impact negatively on T4 to T3 conversion. Regarding the new T3 study, do you have any more information on it, a link perhaps?
I will see if I can find it again. I am often frustrated by the fact that some links are much more broad than the particular article one wishes to cite.
I will definitely ask my Endo about it in January. Keep in mind that the US Food and Drug Administration works at a snail’s pace even after a supportive study.
Could not find the reference to the exact study again, but discovered there have been many studies, most of which in the US are managed by NIH, the National Institutes of Health. If the 2nd link does not work, add a backslash.

Management of hypothyroidism with combination thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) hormone replacement in clinical practice: a review of suggested guidance
A subset of hypothyroid patients has a polymorphism in the gene encoding the D2 enzyme that may prevent full resolution of symptoms with levothyroxine therapy alone; these patients may benefit from combination levothyroxine and liothyronine therapy.
Also saw a negative finding in Germany and elsewhere several references to use of T3 for Chronic fatigue syndrome.
