B-right supplement

Hi, by reading the posts on this site I've bought the Jarrows b12 lozenges together with the b right. I took the b right with my breakfast this morning & had an allergic reaction. Has anyone else had this problem? I had only taken my thyroxine this morning 2 hours previously. Any advice would be gratefully received.

A heavy feeling in my chest & a burning sensation on my arms, neck & legs, followed by a prickly red rash!

Ask your GP if they can send you to an allergy specialist to see what B vitamin you are actually allergic to. There maybe a long waiting list but it's worth pushing for an appointment. If the GP refuses ask them at subsequent appointments and even write a letter to ask for it to be included on your medical notes.

The reason for this is next time you have any food with that particular B vitamin in you are likely to be a medical emergency. So it's better to try and work out which one it is safely before that happens.

And yes the next time it does happen you do need to get to A&E with urgency or get a paramedic out as unfortunately you are now sensitised to the substance and your next reaction may be a lot worst.

Just read your previous post and see you are vegan.

Obviously more common to be low in the B's on a vegan diet.

Have you had vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels checked, best see your GP.

The response by most GPs if you have a reaction to something is simply to tell you to stop taking it. It's then put on your medical records and "lost".

Then every time you mention to another health professional you are allergic or intolerant to something they look at you like you are making it up.
