Hi I wake every morning and my eye is swollen, when I lay down I can gradually feel the eyelid swell once I'm upright it takes about half hour to almost be back to normal, puffy under my eyes too. I do have hashimotos with multinodular goitre, recently check and was fine.
An optician may be able to advise why your eye swells lying down.
Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. 100% gluten-free diet may improve symptoms and reduce antibodies.
If you are still symptomatic there is scope to increase dose slightly to raise FT4 and reduce TSH. Most people feel well when TSH is 1.0 or lower with FT4 in the upper range.
It usually takes months to raise ferritin. Taking Ferrous Sulphate with 500-1,000mg vitamin C will aid absorption and minimise constipation. Take iron 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.
