It means you're taking some form of T3. That's all. And, if you're taking some form of T3, the FT4 is meaningless, he should have done the FT3!
Having said that, your TSH is much too high for someone on thyroid hormone replacement. It should be one or under. So, you do need and increase in Armour.
Your ferritin and vit B12 are much too low. You're not going to feel well on NDT unless you get them up higher. Ferritin should be up near 100, and vit B12 is optima at 1000.
To increase ferritin -
One ferrous fumerate with vitamin C twice a day with water. Take 4 hours away from thyroid meds and 2 hours away from food, drink and other supplements to avoid interactions. 7 days after finishing the course of 84/100 tablets YOU MUST have a ferritin blood test as iron is toxic.
To increase vitamin B12 -
Buy methlycolbalamin lozenges either Jarrows or Solgar. Finish the bottle. There is no point retesting. When you have done that buy a B complex supplement and continue taking that. The B complex should NOT be gender specific and should contain more than the RDA of vitamin B12, folate etc. Preferably vitamin B12 in the complex should be methlycolalamin and folate should be methlyfolate. You will need to take the B complex for the rest of your life.
bluebug Do you mean for ClairePaul3 to swallow the whole bottle/jar of Solgar or Jarrows in one go?
You aren't funny. If Clairepaul3 doesn't understand my answer she can ask for an explanation herself.
I wasn't trying to be funny. It is how I read your post! I think if I read it that way others might too and therefore best to clarify.
I think it's confusing to me because you say 'when you have done that start the B Complex'. Why doesn't she need to start that alongside the B-12?
