I guess like with any hormone, the TSH, T4 and T3 are not on the same level throughout the day. Does anyone know when these levels are the lowest and when they are the highest for each? What would be the best moment of the day to have your blood drawn?
TSH is highest early in the morning and drops after eating and drinking so an early morning fasting (water only) test is recommended. The link below shows how TSH fluctuates throughout the day and night.
Is there any data available on when these people ate?
It seems the lowest point for all three together, not 1/2 high and the other low, is around 1 PM, which could indicate that the levels dropped after lunch.
I couldn't find any info about mealtimes in the full article, so it seems they didn't take that into their research
This link discusses the fasting and non-fasting thyroid levels. Thyroid functions (free T4 and TSH) were done in fasting state and 2 hours postprandially.
Don't have the choice all bloods are taken in the morning as the carrier box is taken to the hospital about 12.30/1pm. Anything different could be sent to the hospital to be taken.
