I take 0.50 of eltroxin a day. Last december I was taking it at night and my tsh came in at 2.3. I then started taking it at night and my latest tsh was 0.81. My endo did not domy free t3 and free t4. Has anyone had this happen and is this drop o.k. thanks lynn

Welcome to the forum, Baxtersmommy.

TSH 0.81 indicates you are probably adequately dosed. Ideally your endo will test FT4 and FT3 in addition to TSH.

Hi, I started taking my levothyroxine at night some time ago and mine too is gradually coming down. It had reached 150 microgram and is now down to 100. I find it is easier to eat healthily throughout the day as I need to take iron and stuff for my osteoarthritis.

I have never managed to get my head around the t3 and t4 stuff so tend to leave that to the doctor.

Unfortunately, it seems that most doctors haven't got their heads round T3 and T4 either.

What time do you take you levothyroxine at night because i take lorazepam, trazedone, lamotrigine and Zoloft at bedtime

When can i take my levothyroxine

Sprout28,

Levothyroxine should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after food and drink, and 2 hours away from your other medication and supplements, and 4 hours away from calcium, iron and vitD supplements.

i know it says to take iron, calcium, magnesium four hours after taking your thyroid but it did not include vitamin d i always take my vitamin 2 hour after i take my levothyroxine

Sprout28,

I read that vitD binds with Levothyroxine reducing absorption when taken less than 4 hours away. I can't find the link to support this.

I take my levothyroxine at 10pm. I swear it makes me dizzy and disorientated so this works well for me.

I can not take my levothyroxine at night or i will wake up with my heart rate racing like this morning i took my levothyroxine at 3 and got up at 6 i felt my heart racing and the palpitations so i can not take it at bedtime

I don't think levothyroxine agrees with me at times because when they raise the dose my heart races and if the dose is at 88mcg i feel fine but some times it races and sometimes it acts like its slow so i don't think the levothyroxine is working for me plus i feel like i am not absorbing it into my blood stream because of my stomach issues and my other meds

Drop is not ok...it may mean you have hyperthyroidism....get all the tests for advanced thyroid profile done which includes total T3 and T4, Free T3 and T4, TSH, TPO antibodies. Check with your doctor with reports. I think u have to take eltroxin at morning on empty stomach....

I take my eltroxin at 10 pm. I do not take any other meds at night. I also have addisions disease so I take 0.1 florniff and 5mg of predisions in the morning.
