Hi everyone, I want to get my T3 levels tested to see if I am converting,I've just been on blue horizons website and they have a few different ones varying in price. Is it just T3 I need, there's one for free t3. I am confused and don't want to order the wrong one.
I am hypo and my tsh ft4 are good.
Thanks

You need TSH, fT4 and fT3. I'm everyone does convert (otherwise the TSH would be very high) but it does help to get an overall picture, to make sure the TSH is reasonable for your fT3, fT4 - that you do have sufficient hormone levels. If you are taking any medication with T3 in it you will need to have the blood around 6 to 8 hours after your last tablet to get a good average fT3 figure.
Oh right, I am just clutching at straws. I read this could be why I am so tired after any exertion. I have just been diagnosed with me,cfs and adrenal fatigue.
It contains what you need to do to get your level up under "management" and you can show your endo as it is one of the sites NHS doctors recommend. Also as you can buy Especially as you buy ferrous fumerate (the NHS preferred iron supplement) off prescription in a pharmacy e.g. it costs the NHS nothing. The supplements cost around £3.75 for 84 tablets.
The ferritin level in your test was only 3 points higher than the WHO guideline level on ferritin deficiency. (Link to the WHO document on iron guidelines is in the first link I gave you.)
I don't go for me, cfs or adrenal fatigue - I'm not sure they exist. If you are still fatigued like in your early posts the fT3 figure will be useful. If you get tired after exertion it could well be something else. They should rule out diabetes and anaemia (as mentioned by bluebug).
Sometimes patients have a low TSH and highish fT4 but their fT3 is low - around the lower half of the reference interval. In this case they might benefit from some T3 medication.
I am with you re ME and CFS, although there clearly is something that used to be called Post Viral Syndrome - the kind of illness that people can have for quite a long time after EBV for example.
As for Adrenal Fatigue I think the main problem is that its such a huge misnomer. You can get adrenal dysregulation - where the body clock is disrupted and as a result cortisol production (and sleep) get disrupted. I was diagnosed with AF, and was able to sort it out almost completely by changing the things that were causing the problem. But I still have very high cortisol but not overt Cushings.
How did you sort it out ? I have had my cortisol level tested but they didn't give me any ranges. My endo said she can guarantee I have adrenal fatigue before she knew my result. But in the follow up letter it just says cortisol not elevated at 220 (I think) follow up in three months?
That's advice greatly appreciated. I had no idea ,I haven't felt any better for taking it.she said I was deficient .why don't they even know simple stuff like this !!
So I can buy it from the pharmacy? Your sentence was a bit muddled
Abby, if you want to know how well you are converting, you need to have your FT4 and FT3 tested at the same time. Just testing the FT3 on it's own is not going to tell you much.
The only reason to have the FT3 tested on its own is if you are taking T3, in which case, TSH and FT4 are irrelevant.
