Overactive thyroid

I have had an underactive thyroid for 15 years. All of a sudden it has gone overactive and I am feeling very unwell. Being as I am 53 I also wonder if the menopause could be playing a part in this?

Hi Maryl2

Welcome to our forum. I think it is unusual to go hyperactive when hypothyroid. Usually it is the other way around although I'm not saying it's impossible. Has your doctor told you you are hyperactive, only according to the result of your blood test result? Or do you have definite symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

Is it possible to get a copy of your most recent blood test results with the ranges as it helps members to respond.

It sounds to me, and am not medically qualified, that you might not be on sufficient hormone replacements. Put your results on a new post as more members will see it and respond.

It will be easier for members to reply if you post your latest labs, with ranges. No-one can have any idea what is going on without those. :)
