its been two weeks after my iron infusion and i have to say i AM feeling better....my hair continues to shed but i am believe that it will slow down with time.
I had another thyroid test done at my docs and despite asking for t3 and 4 they never bothered to test it as i am now in range...
The NHS blood result was
Serum TSH level 1.55 mU/L [0.54 - 4.25]
The wonderful Blue horizon test results were far more informative please see photo, (it wouldn't cut and paste? lol)
Anyway I'm chuffed that my ferritin level is up after struggling for a year using supplements and only getting to a measly level of 16 doc told me that was "normal"??? saw a private haematologist who advised that it shouldnt get lower than 100!! ...it cost us a lot of money but it was well worth it.
All i can do now is wait and see if now I've managed to optimise all the basics that my hair will stop dropping out! my energy is slowly returning and i am feeling better (THERE IS HOPE!!)
The other thing is...has anyone else had an iron infusion? I'm getting quite a few GI issues...my poo is yellow? my abdomen also bloats at times but i put that down to the GI flora probiotic I've taken
I've had a diarrhoea bug this last couple of days so am feeling a bit weary
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had success with the iron infusion? what was it like for the first few weeks and when did they see improvements?
Hey....onwards and upwards eh?

You should show your GP your BH results. FT4 is below range. Low-normal TSH with deficient FT4 indicates secondary hypothyroidism due to pituitary dysfunction. Your GP should prescribe Levothyroxine to raise FT4 into the upper range, totally ignoring TSH which is valueless in secondary and central hypothyroidism, and should refer you to endocrinology for management.
Suspect secondary hypothyroidism if the clinical features are suggestive and T4 is low without raised TSH. Be aware that in secondary hypothyroidism TSH may also be low, normal, or slightly elevated due to circulation of bio-inactive forms of TSH.

Im laughing because my doctor knows nothing about this condition and my endocrinologist tole me he wasn't interested in my t3 and referred me back to the useless GP...so there you have it..what else can i do?
Your FT3 is currently fine but your FT4 isn't. I would show the results to your GP and ask him to consult with his colleagues and an endocrinologist if he doesn't understand. If your doctors aren't prepared to help you you might consider self medicating.
i AM self medicating i am currently on NDT from Thailand. I have been on 2 grains for about 8 weeks now so am upping my dose to 2.5 and re testing in 8 weeks...
The doctor hasn't put the letter from my haematologist onto my records and they refuse to test T3/T4....no surprises there eh?
Anyway I have got copies of these BH test results AND the letter from my haematologist who DID write to him ( not in my medical notes which is very strange!) stating that she advises that they keep an eye on the iron and do not let it drop significantly under 100!! bless her!
Are they obliged to listen? anyway both are in an envelope with a covering letter stating that i feel that they need to be included in my medical notes for future reference.
Can they ignore a letter or is this just a waste of time?
anyway the hair continues to shed, i continue to feel low but i do have more energy! lol so not all bad!
i think the hair will right itself once i have stabled out on my medications and allowed the iron to do its thang!
im impatient! ive also forgotten what it feels like to feel well...
oh well onwards and upwards!! thanks for your support
